The News on the Israeli Street

The war in Judea and Samaria.

Shooting attacks:

Palestinian terrorists in Jenin engaged IDF forces in a firefight this morning.

Palestinian terrorists opened fire on IDF troops in Aqbat Jaber near Jericho.

IED, Molotov, “rock” attacks:

There were more than 3 dozen attacks yesterday (including 20+ “rock” attacks).

Click on this link to see a “rock” attack on an Israeli family between Azzun and Shomron. The photograph below shows what happened to the car:

Miraculously, no one in the car was wounded. The terrorists escaped.

Miraculously, no one in the car was wounded. The terrorists escaped.

Palestinian terrorists also tried to murder Israelis at Azzun, Tora Checkpoint, Road 55 between Azzun and Shomron, Gilad Farm, one kilometer south of the T Junction, at Kfar Lakf near Karni Shomron, Road 6o at Luban Al Sharqiya, in the Husan Bypass between Al-Khader and Beitar, Hawara, on Road 55 between Azzun and the Ma’ale Shomron Junction, the Al Aruv Bypass, Road 60 near the north Efrat Junction, the small Git Junction, Nazm Hakimsa, between Tapuach and Migdalim, Al Khader,  and Jiptalik among other locations.

The Arabization of Israeli leaders . . .

There was a time not too long ago when Arab leaders in the region were famed for making absurd threats to Israel which they never backed up.

Now the shoe is on the other foot.

We have Israeli leaders endlessly threatening Hezbollah, Hamas, and anyone else they can think of–with no back up to the threats.

How many times have we heard the IDF and the government threaten Hezbollah that it will take action if the Hezbollah observation post that it set up in Israel is not removed?

And still the observation post remains.

Yesterday, we had the unseemly spectacle of David Barnea, the head of Mossad, making a speech in which he continuously threatened to eliminate Iranian leaders if Iran attacks Israelis.

Eliminating them is all well and good, but whatever happened to “Walk softly and carry a big stick.” Repetitious threats only end up not being listened to. It’s time for Israeli leaders to shut up.

What’s in a name? . . .

The Population Registry released the most common names parents chose for their children in the past year.

The top 5 girls’ names in order:

Avigail, Tamar, Miriam, Sarah, and Yael.

The top 5 boys’ names in order:

Muhammad, Adam, Joseph, David, and Ariel.

What’s in an investment?

Earlier this year, the famed Norwegian Wealth Fund announced that it would withdraw all of its investments in the Israeli company Teva because of the judicial reforms that the government proposed.

This morning, the Norwegian Wealth Fund announced it is investing 1 billion shekels in Teva.

13,000 cubic meters per day . . .

That is the amount of raw sewage now being dumped into the Mediterranean from Gaza.

And, of course, that sewage is drifting north to contaminate Israeli beaches.

TODAY’S BLOG

Israel’s Deterrence

Speaking of Gaza, the Qatari Ambassador arrived in the area  yesterday.

He apparently brought with him 30 million dollars to be distributed to the leaders of Hamas as per the usual monthly payment to the terror group.

However, it turns out that he only entered Gaza with $13 million and proceeded to tell the Hamas leadership that they will not get the remaining 17 million unless they keep the peace during the Jewish holidays.

The absurdity in this entire situation is that the only deterrence Israel has to stop the terrorists in Gaza from attacking us is Qatari money.
