9:00 am UPDATES

***Palestinian terror attacks so far today:

8:31 am: A mother and her son have been wounded by “rocks” thrown by terrorists on Route 431 between Ramle and Rishon Lezion. They have been evacuated to a nearby hospital for treatment. It should be noted that Road 431 is in central Israel.

***Palestinian terror attacks yesterday:

There were three stabbing attacks.

–At 8:06 am, an Israeli Border Guard was stabbed in the face by a Palestinian terrorist beside Kiryat Arba next to Hebron. The Border Guard was “moderately” wounded; the terrorist was shot and killed.

–At 12:04 pm, a Palestinian terrorist attempted to stab a soldier at Beit Hadassah in Hebron. No Israelis were wounded. The terrorist was shot and killed.

–At 3:22 pm, a terrorist stabbed a woman at a bus stop in Eilat. She was “lightly” wounded; the terrorist was captured after a lengthy manhunt.

There were at least 35 other Palestinian terror attacks, including a number in which Israelis were wounded. For example, a policewoman was burned by a Molotov firebomb thrown at her at a traffic junction in Samaria, and a couple was cut badly by shards of glass that struck them when the car was hit by “rocks” near the Mt. of Olives.

At 8:10 pm last night, Palestinian terrorists in a car attempted to gun down soldiers and Israelis standing at a hitch-hiking spot near Ofra. The soldiers returned fire. No Israelis were wounded (miraculously); the terrorists escaped.

Palestinian terrorists attempted to burn Israeli children, women, and men alive with Molotov firebombs at A-Tur, in the Avraham Aveinu neighborhood of Hebron, at Hebron Hills, at Al-Arrub, and in Jenin.

At 6:16 pm, Palestinian terrorists attacked an IDF force near Rachel’s Tomb outside Bethlehem with IEDs and pipe bombs.

Numerous “rock” attacks occurred at such places as the Shuafat Light Rail train stop in Jerusalem (train damaged and passengers traumatized), Al-Khader, White Mount near Hebron, Al-Fawwar, Dura, Hawara, Beit Hadassah in Hebron.

***You would never know about most of this violence or much about anything else if you watched the leftist Israeli media.

On a day which saw all of the violence above, and on which much of central Israel was underwater with no electricity, the television networks’ leading story on the news last night was the continuing saga of Sara Netanyahu and “the recycled bottle affair.”

In fact on Channel 1 (which your humble servant watched in full), the story dragged on for five minutes while the same 20 second video clip of Netanyahu walking through a hall outside a courtroom played eight times.

The visceral hatred that the media here has for the Netanyahu family is a thing to behold.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Chief Justice of the Israel Supreme Court: Miriam Naor.

Chief Justice of the Israel Supreme Court: Miriam Naor.

Speaking of visceral hatred . . .

An extremely unseemly scene unfolded at the Israel Supreme Court yesterday. The Bereaved Families of some of those Israelis who have been recently murdered by Palestinian terrorists were there to describe why they thought that the homes of those who murdered their family members should be destroyed.

It is a time honored tradition here that Bereaved Families are allowed to have their day in court.

But not yesterday.

When Devora Gonen, the sobbing mother of Daniel Goren who was brutally shot to death at the Ein Buvin Spring when he stopped to give a Palestinian water, started to speak, she had barely gotten two sentences out her mouth when Israel Chief Justice Miriam Naor rudely shut her down.

The exchange:

Gonen:  “Danny was the supporting pillar of the family. The murdered have become invisible. You turned the victims into the guilty party. I hear how unfortunate the families of the terrorists are – we aren’t…?”

Naor:  “Even a bereaved mother has limits as to what she can say here. The madam will not use the rights given to her here so as to fling accusations.”

Stunned, Gonen did not respond and sat down.

She should have because everything she said was true. There were no accusations, just facts. The Israel Supreme Court and Attorney General have turned Israeli victims into “the guilty party.” The murdered are quickly swept under the rug and forgotten.

Yes, it is true that occasionally terrorist homes have been demolished or sealed. But how many times have the Bereaved Families pleaded in vain to the Supreme Court that the murderers who murdered their family members not be released in “prisoner exchanges”? Your humble servant does not have any accurate statistics but would hazard a guess that more than 95% of all Bereaved Family petitions to the Supreme Court have been rejected over the years.

Again, the visceral hatred exhibited by Miriam Naor yesterday is exactly that visceral hatred harbored by people on the Israeli “left” toward anyone perceived to have a different mindset.

It is abominable.

By the way, the Court decided to again delay the demolition of terrorist homes until further hearings next week.
