Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours

An IDF soldier was wounded in Shechem (Nablus) as his unit discovered a pipe bomb factory. He was hit by an IED thrown by a terrorist and is in “moderate” condition.

Border police came under fire from terrorists at the Qalandiya checkpoint. No police were wounded.

There were numerous Molotov firebomb and “rock” attacks in such places as Abu Dis, Silwan, and Beit Furik.

In the most bizarre incident of the day, a resident of Elon Moreh was assaulted while driving his car near the community. As “rocks” pelted his car breaking his windshield and threatening his life, he took out his gun and fired it into the air to scare away the attackers. Later in the day, he was arrested.

The Missiles Keep “Falling”: 8,342 and Counting

As those interested in Israel know, israelstreet is the only place on the planet that keeps up with the number of missiles that Palestinian terrorists fire out of Gaza at southern Israel.

You can see this number in the right hand column of this page. 8,342 missiles have been fired since January 20, 2012. To put it a different way, in the last 1,732 days, 8,342 missiles have targeted Israeli men, women, and children in southern Israel.

4.81 missiles per day.

Our government here in Israel likes to propagate the canard that all is quiet on the Gaza border. It will do anything to suppress information about missile strikes, or to make missile strikes seem less serious than they are.

A whole Orwellian governmental vocabulary has evolved:

Missiles no longer crash into something on the ground and explode; they “fall.”

Missiles that do not strike a person, building, or vehicle hit “an open space.” It doesn’t matter if a missile strikes a park next to a kindergarten, it hit “an open space.”

Missiles no longer physically “wound” people; they “injure” them.

Missiles no longer wreak emotional trauma; the only mention made by the government is of “physical injuries.”

Retaliatory “strikes” by the IAF that blow up sand dunes, empty shacks, or fields are strikes against “Hamas infrastructure.”

Statements that come from government and military officials afterwards always say “Hamas is responsible” and “Israel will not tolerate rocket fire on our citizens”.  The truth is that Israel absolutely tolerates rocket fire on our citizens.

8,342.

Of course, the easiest way for the government to suppress information is to just pretend like the missile strikes never happened.

That is precisely what happened yesterday.

Two missiles were fired toward and exploded in the Chof Ashkelon region just south of the city of Ashkelon. There were no warning sirens. In fact, we would not know about the missile strikes at all were it not for the facts that people on the ground saw the missiles and heard the explosions.

No mention was made of the attack by the IDF spokesman or by any of the mainstream media here.

That is just par for the course.

8,342 and counting.
