Palestinian terror on Saturday and Sunday

There were more than 40 terror attacks over the weekend ranging from “rock” attacks at Ramallah, the Gush Etzion Junction, Beit Horon, Ras Al-Amud, and Hizma to Molotov firebomb assaults at Dehaisha, Husan, Doha, and Beit Ummar–where an IDF soldier was wounded.

The Sordid Business of Provocations at the Kotel

Your humble servant has tired of hearing about “the fight for human rights” at the Kotel.

All we hear is that the rights of all Jews to worship are being subverted by the evil orthodox because they seek to maintain a separation of men and women at the Western Wall.

However, the simple fact is that “the fight for human rights” has always been about money–specifically money that pours into the coffers of the Reform, Conservative, and Women’s groups continuously protesting there.

Just how much a sordid business it has become was suggested in documents released today.

Let’s take the Women of the Wall as an example.

Far from being a volunteer pursuing justice for women, its director Anat Hoffman receives an astonishing 34,000 shekels a month salary.  More than this, her organization itself raked in nearly 1,000,000 shekels last year–some of which is used to fund Hoffman’s travels to the United States where she solicits even more money.

Another of the provocateurs, the Movement for Progressive Judaism, pays its head, Gilad Kariv more than 37,000 shekels a month plus a private car. And the list goes on and on.

So the next time you hear or read about any of these groups at the Kotel “protesting” for egalitarian Jewish rights, remember they are getting paid buckets of money to do so.

In the face of stiff resistance from the residents of Amona, the Netanyahu government caved in somewhat today and offered a new agreement to the residents which was almost immediately accepted. The agreement averts a crisis that threatened to split apart the government and the country.

The violence that all of the leftist Israeli media was hoping would take place will not happen.

What are the terms of the agreement?

1.  24 of the 42 families living in Amona will be relocated to “absentee property” plots right beside their current plots. Previously, the government had only offered that 12 families could remain on the Amona site.

2.  Apparently the government has also pledged to build 52 new homes at Amona–also on absentee property”–as well as other public buildings.

Late this afternoon, the residents issued this statement:

“After 20 years of pioneering settlement, and against all odds, and after two years of struggle we have decided to suspend our struggle, take the government’s offer to build 52 houses and public buildings in new Amona – buildings which will be used by the community and by the residents. We have decided to take a chance on this offer to build our houses and our lives in new Amona.

We will continue to be vigilant and determine whether or not the State will stand by its word to build New Amona, including the new public buildings. We wish to thank the thousands of supporters – youths and families – who came to Amona over the last few days, and the tens of thousands more who supported us from home. We love you and appreciate you.”

If the State doesn’t stand by its commitments, we will not hesitate to re-start the struggle, and we will fight harder than before. We will fight for our settlement and for the entirety of the land of Israel – Amona will not fall again.”

Your humble servant cannot applaud the Amona residents enough. Facing overwhelming odds, they have hung in there against the forces arrayed against them: the Israel Supreme Court, the government, and the Israel media.

Kolakevod to each of the brave community members!
