The News on the Israel Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

**Palestinian terrorists from Gaza continue probing the border area in advance of tomorrow’s planned assault on the border fence:

Two terrorists infiltrated Israel overnight and burned and destroyed military equipment positioned on the border. They escaped back to Gaza, but posted a video of their actions online.

Two other Palestinian terrorists were captured after breaching the border fence near Khan Younis.

**If you can believe this, the Red Crescent and Gaza Health Ministry have already declared “a state of emergency” in advance of tomorrow’s assault in which Hamas intends to use its terrorists as “civilian marchers.”

**Meanwhile there were more than 25 terror attacks reported by Israeli citizens in Judea and Samaria and Jerusalem:

“Rock” and Molotov attacks occurred near Havat Gilad, on the Hussan Bypass Road, at Yitzhar, Huwara, Hevron, Tekoa, on the Gush Etzion Road in the direction of Hevron, Kiryat Arba, Qalqilya, outside of Jenin, and in a myriad of other locations.

“Rock” and Molotov attacks took place at the Temple Mount, in Silwan, Abu Dis, outside of Shuafat and other places in Jerusalem.

**A terror alert in Beersheva was lifted this morning when an armed Palestinian terrorist was captured hiding in the city.

**A perverse incident took place in Hevron yesterday when a Palestinian terrorist put a screwdriver into the hand of his 3-year-old son and told him to attack Border Policemen.

The policemen gently took the child and held him until another family member came to retrieve him. Meanwhile, the father filmed the entire episode and posted it as an example of “Israeli cruelty.” A police spokesman commented: “Such incidents of attempted provocation against Border Policemen and IDF soldiers and cynical Palestinian exploitation of young children are common in this area.”

The threat continues in the north . . .

Israel resumed work on the Lebanese wall yesterday in the area near Metulla. The work had been halted for three months after the Lebanese Army (aka Hezbollah) had threatened to shoot construction workers.

As you may remember, during these three months there was a parade of terrorists to the border including Iranian military officers and Hezbollah commanders–all proclaiming that it is just a matter of time until Israel is destroyed.

Speaking of Hezbollah . . .

An intriguing story from Lebanon has emerged today. As you may remember, your humble servant has blogged about the extraordinary number of Hezbollah casualties in Syria–and how families were not permitted to see the bodies of their dead relatives.

In recent days, some families have managed to see the bodies by paying off guards, and they are claiming that Hezbollah has been harvesting the organs of its own dead soldiers and selling them on the black market. They are making this claim of the basis of surgical scars on the bodies of the dead.

They are seeking a non-Hezbollah affiliated Shi’ite cleric to issue a fatwa that all bodies must be examined.

Great news from the Bank of Israel . . .

Today, the Bank of Israel has reported that the Israel economy continues humming along with “beautiful growth, low unemployment, and high GDP.”

Last year the economy grew by 3.4%. Included in this growth was a better balance of trade–with expanded exports. At the same time there was a decrease in the national debt.

As for the GDP, it has grown by 27% in the last five years, reaching an all-time high last year of $361 billion dollars (1.26 trillion shekels) last year. GDP per capita in 2017 reached $41,430 dollars.

TODAY’S BLOG:

The Pelosi Democrat Junket Limps To An End In Jordan

U.S. Minority Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her Democrat minions in Amman today with

U.S. Minority Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her Democrat minions in Amman today with “His Royal Highness King” Abdullah II.

Considering his blogs of the last two days, you may think that your humble servant has an obsession with Nancy Pelosi and the Democrat delegation that just visited Israel.

That may be partly true, but the fact is that the Pelosi junket illustrates in microcosm everything that has gone wrong with the Democrat Party’s approach to Israel in recent years.

One Pelosi press release after another has touted such things as “candid, open dialogue” with Israel (translation: criticizing Israel) and “humanitarian challenges” in the area (translation: ways to dole out American taxpayer money).

The problem with the Democrat approach is simply that you don’t make the situation better here by continually criticizing your friend Israel and handing over money to those trying to kill us.

So in one final blog on Pelosi, here are parts of her press release about yesterday in Amman. As you read this, note that there is no mention of “candid, open dialogue” with Abdullah (aka “His Royal Highness King Abdullah II). The emphasis is mine:

“Amman, Jordan – House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi is leading a Congressional Delegation and on Sunday the delegation visited Jordan where they had an audience with His Royal Highness King Abdullah II.

Our delegation was grateful for the warm hospitality of King Abdullah II who hosted us for a working lunch and a thoughtful exchange of views on critical regional and economic security, and cooperation issues,” Leader Pelosi said.  ‘We appreciated not only the King’s hospitality but his invaluable insight into the challenges facing Jordan and the region.  Our delegation reiterated the longstanding American commitment to Jordan’s prosperous future.’”

His invaluable insight? When was the last time that Pelosi used this phrase to describe anything said by any Israeli in the government? Allow me to tell you when . . . “Never.”

The press release continues:

“The delegation also met with the Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Safadi to discuss regional security and diplomatic efforts.”

Does Pelosi have any idea who Safadi is?

Well allow us to enlighten her. Safadi is one of the most outspoken Israel-bashers on the planet. He regularly leads the charge against Israel in every conceivable venue. Just minutes after Trump’s Jerusalem Declaration, Safadi tweeted:

“US recognition of  as capital of Israel violates International law.”

Of course, this is a perspective that Pelosi herself probably agrees with so it is not surprising that she and Safadi got along so well today.

We could go on and on, but the Democrat junket has ended, and tomorrow night at sundown, Passover begins!
