The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

*Palestinian terrorists detonated an IED beside an IDF patrol in Shechem. No Israelis were wounded; the terrorists escaped.

*Palestinian terrorists threw “rocks” and Molotovs at Israelis at Beit Ummar, Tekoa, Tikkun, Al-Amari, Beit Hanina, the Beit Anon Junction, at Ofarim, and at numerous other places.

*Palestinian terrorists attempted to kidnap an IDF soldier at the Beit Kama Junction. The soldier escaped–as did the terrorists–but his gun was stolen.

Israeli stupidity vis a vis Turkey . . .

We all know that the Turkish government of PM Erdogan is dedicated to the elimination of Israel. Yet Israel continues selling military hardware to Turkey knowing full well that Turkey transfers the Israeli hardware to other countries.

This morning, the United Nations of all institutions, opened an investigation against Turkey accusing the country of selling Israeli nuclear-related products and technologies to Iran.

Yes, to Iran.

The sale was discovered in July of last year when inspectors in the United Arab Emirates identified electronic capacitors on a ship bound from Turkey to Iran. This sale was in violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2231.

If your humble servant has said it once, he has said it many times: why is Israel continuing to deal with Turkey?

A bizarre incident on the Temple Mount today . . .

A group of 23 Chinese Christians from Beijing arrived in Jerusalem. As part of their tour, they were supposed to have been taken to the Mount by a Jewish rabbi and his family.

However, once they arrived at the Mughrabi gate, they were told that they could not go to the Mount with the Rabbi or the other Jews accompanying him.

Finally, all were allowed on the Mount–but not together. Police stood guard to make sure that the Rabbi and his group did not come in contact with the Jewish group.

Four Idiotic, Delusional, and Orwellian Quotes of the Day

1.  We [the European Union] must act immediately to prevent further deaths in Gaza, and we are doing everything to bring humanitarian aid . . . The tension in Gaza is in a political context, headed by the U.S. moving its embassy to Jerusalem. All countries in the EU  are committed to seeing Jerusalem as the capital of both countries.”

Frederica Mogherini, European Union Foreign Minister

Is it possible for this statement to be any more stupid? All deaths in Gaza were caused by the Hamas assault on Israel’s border fence. All deaths in Gaza stopped when Hamas stopped assaulting Israel’s border fence.

We are doing everything possible to bring humanitarian aid? Here’s a news flash for Mogherini: Israel trucks in humanitarian aid to Gaza every day–except when Hamas terrorists blow up the gas pipeline into Gaza and when Hamas terrorists repeatedly destroy the Kerem Shalom Crossing through which goods are ferried.

2.. . . the best way to preserve the security of the Middle East and Europe is through the Iranian Nuclear Agreement.”

Frederica Mogherini, European Union Foreign Minister

Well, yes, it was possible for Mogherini to be more stupid after all. The Iranian Nuclear Appeasement Agreement has unleashed Iranian terrorists throughout the region and the world. There is no security to be preserved in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, and Lebanon. Nor is the situation on Israel’s borders “secure.” Mogherini is living in delusional fantasyland.

3. “If the Jerusalem issue took me to the hospital, I am leaving the hospital so that Jerusalem will be the capital of Palestine.”

PLO Chairman and unelected Palestinian dictator Mahmoud Abbas upon leaving the hospital this morning

The Jerusalem issue took Abbas to the hospital? What a perverse joke. Everyone knows that Abbas has severe respiratory problems and lung cancer from decades of smoking four or five packs of cigarettes a day. Jerusalem had nothing to do with it.

And now that he has been discharged “Jerusalem will be the capital of Palestine”? Abbas has become completely delusional and should share a room in an asylum with Mogherini.

4. “The establishment of free zones of weapons of mass destruction, especially in the Middle East, and the struggle against chemical and biological terrorism, has always been Syria’s priority.”

Husam Al-Din, Syrian Representative to the UN Disarmament Conference in Geneva speaking today, upon being chosen to head the Conference.

Yes, you read that correctly.

Syria, the country that has ruthlessly slaughtered hundreds of thousands of its own citizens using a vast array of weapons ranging from phosphorous bombs to chlorine gas to conventional bombing, is now heading the UN Disarmament Conference.

Is there any larger Orwellian example of how sick our world has become?
