The Citizens of Southern Israel: Thrown Under The Bus Again

The Most Pathetic Quotes of the Day from Israel Officials:

“Since yesterday, the IDF has reacted strongly against Gaza against dozens of terrorist targets, the worst blow in years . . . If they keep firing at us, they will pay a lot more.”

PM Netanyahu speaking this morning

Pure unadulterated horse manure. The terrorists in Gaza paid nothing because the IDF destroyed nothing but empty buildings and empty sand dunes in Gaza. Even the IDF admitted this morning that not one single terrorist in Gaza was killed or wounded.

“The time has come to change the rules of the game. I support the idea of separation from Gaza. There is no compromise and no concession, we will not allow harm to civilians and no dripping of missiles. We must separate from Gaza, stop fuel and water, and stand with military strength, as in the case of southern Lebanon.”

Yisrael Katz, Minister of Intelligence and Transport

Another pile of horse manure.  Katz has spent the last two years pushing a plan to work with the terrorists in Gaza to build a new island off the coast where fuel and supplies to Gaza can be offloaded. We will not allow harm to civilians and no dripping? What a sick joke.

By the way, workers for the Israel Electric Company worked feverishly all last night and today to restore electrical lines to Gaza that were destroyed by Hamas rockets.

“Those who want to conquer in Gaza have to think about what will happen after the downfall of Hamas and what the price will be. Israel has a central focus in dealing with security [and that focus] . . . is what is happening in Syria and Lebanon with Iranian support . . .  At this time I suggest being restrained because we have issues that are more important.”

Yoav Gallant, Minister of Construction

This is the same tired old statement which is thrown in the face of southern Israelis every time missiles fly out of Gaza: “we can’t destroy Hamas because who will replace them?” As for Israel’s central focus, our government might want to think about the fact that this latest mini-war can almost totally be laid at the feet of Iran.

After all, according to Hamas and Islamic Jihad, Iran provided the missiles, the mortars, and the funding.

But it is the last line from Gallant that is the most appalling: “We have issues that are more important.” Nothing should be more important than protecting our citizens; however, the citizens of southern Israel are way down on the list of priorities for the Netanyahu government.

The Citizens of Southern Israel:

Thrown Under The Bus Again

The Mini-One Day War with Palestinian terror organizations Islamic Jihad and Hamas is over despite the fact that this morning the IDF and Netanyahu government said what it always does: there is no ceasefire, and more attacks from Gaza will be met by more Israeli response.

Or lack of response.

According to yet another fraudulent statistic from the IDF, “approximately 100 missiles and mortars” were fired into southern Israel. The IDF spokesman even provided this graphic to international reporters today:

A map with graphics handed out by the IDF today.

A map with graphics handed out by the IDF today.

However, this map does not even begin to show what has taken place here since Monday night. Palestinian terrorists fired barrages of missiles and mortars into southern Israel with complete impunity. According to reports on the ground, between 150-200 missiles and mortars were fired into southern Israel.

At least 5 Israelis were badly wounded by shrapnel from mortars; one soldier who was critically wounded yesterday by a “medium-sized mortar shell”, was transferred this morning from Soroka Hospital to Tel Hashomer. He is suffering from “broken limbs” and undisclosed other “injuries.”

Numerous other Israelis were injured running to bomb shelters. On Galatz Radio this morning we had the story of Ofer Tobi, a taxi driver who described what happened to him when an incoming missile siren went off: “I jumped over the fence of a house to hide, and I fell two meters down. My foot is shattered. . . I am a single parent who makes a living from the taxi. . . how will we survive?”

At least one hundred other Israelis were treated for trauma as homes and even a kindergarten were hit.

And what did our government do to protect the 250,000 Israelis who were huddling in bomb shelters?

According to the IDF, the IAF carried out some 65 attacks on Hamas and Islamic Jihad “positions.”

More empty buildings and sand dunes destroyed: how much wasted money was spent on fuel and bombs for this "mission"?

More empty buildings and sand dunes destroyed: how much wasted money was spent on fuel and bombs for this “mission”?

However, according to Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and the IDF not a single terrorist was killed or even wounded. In other words, everyone agrees that all that was hit in Gaza were empty buildings and empty land.

No attempt was made to target those firing missiles and mortars at our citizens.

To put it another way, our government considers the citizens of southern Israel as nothing more than missile fodder.

One last note:

If you can believe this, the IDF took these actions this morning: it opened the Kerem Shalom and Erez Crossings into Gaza, and it expanded the fishing area for Gazan fishermen off the coast.

What message do you think that sends to the citizens of southern Israel?
