Kumbaya Kites, Palestinian Terror,

French Appeasement, Swedish Celebration

The Sad Picture of the Day:

Israelis flying "peace kites" at the Black Arrow monument beside Nir Am yesterday.

Israelis flying “peace kites” at the Black Arrow monument beside Nir Am yesterday. At the same time as these kites were being flown, explosive kites from Gaza were being launched into Israel.

Why is this sad? In your humble servant’s opinion, this “demonstration” amply demonstrated the utter helplessness of our IDF in the face of the Molotov kite and balloon threat–a fact that was noted by the spokesman for the group. There is something distinctly sad about a group of people under fire engaging in a kumbaya moment because our military will not act to defend them.

The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

Along the Gaza border:

–Palestinian terrorists attempted to throw an IED at our soldiers near the Karni Crossing. Fortunately the device blew up in the hands of the terrorists; an unknown number were wounded and possibly killed.

–Palestinian snipers continue to target our soldiers at various locations along the Gaza border. Several incidents occurred yesterday; none of our soldiers were wounded.

In Judea and Samaria:

–Palestinian terrorists continue copying their fellow Palestinians in Gaza. Below is a picture of a fire that was set yesterday west of Yitzhar. The fire quickly spread to the Kumi Uri neighborhood before it was eventually extinguished:

–Another shooting incident occurred at the Beituniya crossing near Jerusalem. Our Border Guards were the targets. None were wounded, but the terrorists escaped.

The newest “exchange of prisoners” proposal with Hamas . . .

According to different Arab sources, Hamas has agreed to a Qatari proposal to supply a video of the three mentally-disturbed Israelis they are holding as well as some video of the body parts of our two soldiers from 2014 in return for Israel paying the salaries of Gaza officials.

In other words, Israeli taxpayers will need to foot the bill to see a Hamas propaganda video.

Unbelievable.

An update on European appeasement . . .

As your humble servant mentioned on israelstreet several days ago, the only things that Europeans can do is appease, and he predicted that in the foreign minister meeting in Vienna we would see this appeasement in full form as the Europeans fight to salvage the Iranian Nuclear Weapons Appeasement Agreement.

And so it was yesterday, as the remaining 5 P5+1 (better just to say P5) foreign ministers pleaded with Iran to stay in the Agreement even as the Iranians continued to demand more money from the Europeans and threaten an increase in “instability” in the Middle East.

Leading the appeasement charge was none other than French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Derrion who meekly told the Iranians that they had to be patient until the Europeans “can find solutions for appropriate economic compensation to Iran.”

Remember the World Cup joke from the other day . . .

It referred to the fact that there are actually three Muslim teams still in the Copa Mondial: Belgium, France, and Sweden.

This picture was taken in Sweden yesterday following the Swedish victory over Switzerland:

Amazing news from Amazon . . .

Apparently, Amazon will now offer free shipping to Israel for any order of more than $80. If this is true, it will cause a sea-change in Israeli shopping.

Your humble servant will try it out tomorrow.
