The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terrorism yesterday . . .

In Judea and Samaria:

Palestinian terrorists opened fire on an IDF military post near Psagot. No Israelis were wounded. The terrorists escaped.

Palestinian terrorists assaulted Israeli men, women, and children with “rocks” and Molotovs at Hizma, on Route 60 near the British Police Junction, Adam, Beit Fajr, al-Mu’ayyir, on the Ma’aleh Adumim Road, El Khader, Tekoa, near Karmei Tzur, and in Hevron to name a few places.

On the Gaza border:

Palestinian terrorists planted an IED on the border in an attempt to blow up a passing IDF patrol. Fortunately, the device was spotted in advance and disarmed by IDF sappers.

Palestinian terrorists launched more incendiary kites and balloons into southern Israel; the IDF suppressed all information concerning them.

Left-wing terrorism in Mitzpe Yair yesterday . . .

If you want to know how left-wing  “peace activists” and their minions operate in Israel, take a look at what happened yesterday in Mitzpe Yair near Hevron. Here was the sequence of events:

1. Six members of the Ta’ayush organization suddenly showed up in Mitzpe Yair. You may remember that it was the head of Ta’ayush who was videotaped earlier this year revealing that he regularly turns over the names of Arabs who sell land to Jews in Judea and Samaria to the PLO. Once the PLO has the names, the man acknowledged that they are beaten and/or killed.

2. Armed with cameras, they went to an illegal Palestinian construction site and began taking pictures. The entire site was overseen by the IDF’s  Yehuda Regional Brigade.

3. Afterwards, they went straight to the homes of residents of the community, criminally barged into two, and began taking pictures.

4. Fights erupted in the homes as residents tried to throw the “activists” out.

5. The IDF commander was called in, declared the area a closed military zone, and ordered the Ta’ayush members to leave.

6. Some of them violated the order, refused to leave, and demanded to be taken to a local health clinic because of their “injuries.”

7. Finally, they all left.

Afterwards, the IDF issued this statement about the incident:

“This morning a number of Ta’ayush activists came to an area where illegal Palestinian construction was taking place, near Mitzpeh Yair, in the area of the Yehuda Regional Brigade . . . the activists went up to the community in order to create a provocation, and fighting developed between them and the residents living in the area. IDF soldiers in the area declared a closed military zone in order to prevent further friction, but some of the organization’s activists refused to evacuate and violated the order imposed in the area.”

So what was reported by the Ta’ayush members today?

First, they claim that they were beaten by residents of Mitzpe Yair so badly that they had to be seen at a clinic. A subsequent check of hospital records showed that they had no injuries. Second, they took umbrage that the residents broke their cameras.

And what comments were made by left-wingers and their organizations?

Knesset member Michal Rozin of Meretz ranted:  “Violence against left-wing activists has become routine and is being fueled by incessant incitement.”

Say what? Violence against left-wing activists?

From the New Israel Fund:

“The violent attack against human rights activists today by settlers in the southern Hevron hills is a hate crime that should be investigated . . . These violent criminals among the extremist settlers have long ceased to fear harming human rights activists because they feel protected and immune to the rule of law.”

This is how the “left” operates in Judea and Samaria. Under the guise of “human rights activism”, they provoke violent confrontations by breaking the law in Jewish communities, and then claim that the people they violently attack are “extremist settlers” committing “a hate crime.

Just incredible.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Destroying the Palestinians’ Myth of Creation

It is being widely reported today that one detail of the Trump Peace Plan soon to be announced will be the statement that there is no so-called “right of return” for so-called “Palestinian refugees.

It is further suggested that Trump will declare that instead of the more than 5,000,000 “refugees” UNRWA counts, the actual number of Palestinian refugees numbers fewer than 50,000 if that. Trump will say that refugee status is not something that one gains by heredity.

As part of this declaration, Trump will supposedly also ask Israel to terminate UNRWA’s presence in Judea and Samaria (isn’t it amazing that Trump has to ask Israel to do this?).

If all of this is true, it will indeed be a blockbuster declaration.

If one looks back at the peace offers that Israel made to the Palestinians in 2000 and 2007, you will find that all the things that the Palestinians supposedly want–eastern Jerusalem as the capital of a Palestinian state, the land in Judea and Samaria or its equivalent, and on and on, were offered.

Except one.

And each time an offer was made, it was rejected because of that one thing.

What was it?

The Palestinian demand that the 5,000,000+ “refugees” be allowed to move to live in Israel–a movement that would eliminate the Jewish state of Israel.

For Trump to have taken Jerusalem “off the table” was dramatic; to remove the so-called “refugees” from the table was would be even more so.  Of course, it will probably entail Trump recognition of a “Palestinian state,” but the refugee pill is one that the Palestinians cannot swallow because it would involve the destruction of their entire myth of creation.
