Obviously photo 2 featuring the entrance to “The Islamic University of Gaza” informs us where photo 1 was taken. No, it is not the main street of some European city; it is a photo taken yesterday of the main street of downtown Gaza. The reason the street is empty is that a general strike had been called by Hamas.

The next time you hear one of the fraudulent ways that Gaza is always described in the mediaa squalid hell-hole, a humanitarian disaster, the largest open-air prison in the worldremember these pictures.

The News On The Israeli Street

Just when you thought the holiday celebrations were over . . .

They continued into last night as Israelis celebrated the second Hakofot. For those of you unfamiliar with the holiday, it is a joyous continuation of Simchat Torah which marks the end and the beginning of the annual cycle of Torah readings. It happens for a second time for all of the Jews in the Diaspora.

Once again, Torah scrolls are taken out into the streets amidst singing and dancing. There were even, hard to believe, Hakofot celebrations in Rabin Square in Tel Aviv last night.  The following short video is from a tweet by Israel Cohen from Tzfat:

The tweet is about the fact that the mayor of Tzfat (Safed) was dancing with the orthodox.

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

In Judea and Samaria:

Israelis were attacked by Palestinian terrorists with “rocks” and Molotovs at Luban a-Sharqiya northeast of Ramallah, Kiryat Arba, Mazra’a, Qibliya, Al-Khader, Efrat, Karmei Tzur, along the Gush Etzion-Hevron Road, Beit Anun, Ras Karkar, Al Mu’ayyir, Route 60 near El Aruv, Har Gilo, Kibavim, and Har Bracha to name a few locations.

All of the above reports are those reported by Israeli citizens to Rescue Judea and Samaria.

On the Gaza border and beyond:

More fires from incendiary balloons erupted in Gaza border communities yesterday. The worst was in the Negev Regional Council community of Maimon. The following is an aerial photo of a burned out area near Kibbutz Saad:

If you can believe this, an incendiary balloon made it all the way to Modi’in where it crashed into the central boulevard. It was quickly neutralized by police sappers. Think about how far the “balloon” traveled:

Meanwhile, Hamas proudly crowed yesterday that “193 Gazan Palestinians have been killed” during the last six months of attacks at the border fence. It crowed this as it called for new attacks during the night at Zikim.

What it didn’t crow was that virtually all of the 193 were terrorists of Hamas or Islamic Jihad.

Proudly crowed.

Speaking of Gaza . . .

UNRWA was forced to evacuate 10 of its top officials from Gaza to Israel yesterday as UNRWA offices were besieged by angry Palestinians demanding that laid-off UNRWA workers be rehired.

TODAY’S BLOG:

The Absurd “Open-Fire” Rules On The Gaza Border

How would you like to be a soldier in the IDF serving on the Gaza border? Every day and night you face ten thousand or more terrorists who are doing everything they can to kill you and infiltrate Israel.

They throw “rocks”, Molotovs, grenades, and IEDs at you continuously. They open fire with weapons on a daily basis. They set fires all along the border to obscure their attacks.

And yet, the IDF General Command hamstrings you at every turn.

Apparently, the newest orders from the IDF (as reported by 0404 news) are that you can only open fire when you are being shot at, or can prove that you are about to be shot at. In the latter instance, you must be able to somehow prove it or you are likely to be hauled up before a court-martial.

In no circumstances are you allowed to fire to kill those throwing “rocks”, Molotovs, grenades, and IEDs at you, or those trying to burn through the fence.

However, if terrorists manage to break into the security zone along the border “in a way that poses a potential threat to life”, then you are permitted to shoot the terrorists in the knees.

In the knees.

To put it a different way, a terrorist can break into the security zone and throw a grenade at you, but all you can do is shoot the terrorist in the knees.

Unbelievable.

This is political correctness taken to an absurd extreme.

As your humble prefaced this blog, how would you like to be a soldier in the IDF serving on the Gaza border?
