Mystery Picture of the Day:

What are you looking at?

What are you looking at?

What you are looking at dear reader is the new flight path of PM Netanyahu’s plane to Bulgaria last week. On previous trips to Bulgaria and beyond, the prime minister’s plane has flown directly over Turkey. As you can see, on this most recent flight, the prime minister’s plane veered around Turkey and flew through Greek airspace.

The question is why.

When asked about this yesterday, neither the Prime Minister’s Office nor El Al would explain the reason for the deviation. Was it because Turkey denied Netanyahu’s plane flyover rights? Was there some kind of threat? Sooner or later, we will find out, but for the moment, the flight deviation remains a mystery.

The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

In Judea and Samaria:

The terrorist at Kiryat Arba yesterday after being shot.

The terrorist at Kiryat Arba yesterday after being shot.

A Palestinian terrorist attempted to stab a soldier at the hitchhiking spot near the gas station at the entrance to Kiryat Arba. He was shot by another soldier. Neither soldier was wounded; unfortunately, as you can see from the picture above, the terrorist survived.

Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis with “rocks” and Molotovs on Route 443 near Hirbet al-Mitshbeh, between Yitzhar and Havat Gilad, between Kiryat Arba and Hevron, between Ma’aleh Ephraim and Gitit, near Ofra, at Silwad, and at Deir Al-Mash’al to name a few places.

The sanctions on Iran kick in . . . sort of . . .

The sanctions are beginning to bite a little, and of course Iranian bellicosity against Israel has intensified with the deputy commander of Iranian forces ranting yesterday that all Israeli “shelters” in the country will be turned into “graveyards” in the next war with Iranian proxy Hezbollah.

Interestingly, eight countries have been granted exemptions from the most recent “oil” sanctions: China, India, South Korea, Turkey, Italy, Taiwan, Greece, and Japan.

What are the five largest purchasers of Iranian oil? China, India, South Korea, Turkey, and Italy.

The Trump Administration also granted exemptions to three Iranian nuclear facilities as well as other exemptions for “humanitarian needs.”

In essence, the November sanctions on Iran are full of loopholes which allow Iran to continue selling its oil on the same scale as before the sanctions.

Palestinians bar a corpse from Al-Aksa . . .

Two days ago another horrendous car accident occurred on Route 90 along the Jordanian border.  A week ago, an Israeli family of 6 was killed when the driver of another car (who was apparently under the influence of drugs) swerved into their path and hit their car. The family was burned alive in the resulting fire.

In the most recent accident, 6 Palestinian men from eastern Jerusalem were killed when their mini-van veered into the lane of an oncoming truck. Yesterday, the family of one of the men sought to bring his body to the Al-Aksa Mosque in Jerusalem for final prayers before burial.

However, the PLO and the Islamic Wakf refused to allow the body on the Temple Mount because they claimed that the dead man had been involved with selling homes in eastern Jerusalem to Jews.

TODAY’S BLOG:

“There is no deterrence.”

The brother and mother of Ziv Hagbi appeared on Israel’s Channel 20 yesterday in advance of a walk planned for Wednesday evening.

The flyer calls on Israelis to join the families of the two murdered Israelis (Ziv to the left, and Kim on the right) on a walk to remember them and assert Israeli strength.

The flyer calls on Israelis to join the families of the two murdered Israelis (Ziv to the left, and Kim on the right) on a walk to remember them and assert Israeli strength.

As you may remember Ziv and Kim Yehezkel were gruesomely murdered by a Palestinian terrorist in the Barkan Industrial Park on October 7th. Kim was shot to death after having her hands handcuffed behind her back.

In an emotional interview, the brother and mother blasted the police and the IDF for failing to capture the murderer.

But even more, they blasted the government.

Ziv’s brother decried the blather of politicians: “I leave every meeting with every politician more frustrated. Each one throws responsibility on the other. They are all like children.”

He continued: “The terrorist who murdered my brother was in training with the PLO and published support for terrorists a month before he committed the murder. I have been told that it is impossible to advance a law that would simply expel terrorists from this country. Is that how we now conduct ourselves in Israel?”

Ziv’s angry and sobbing mother added: “The terrorist shot my son six times in the head, and our government is still deliberating about demolishing his house and expelling his family? There is no deterrence, and Israel cannot produce any deterrence.”
