Israeli skiers were out in force starting at midnight to try to make it to the slopes of Mt. Hermon. By mid-morning, authorities were already telling people to turn back.

The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

On the Gaza border:

An estimated 15,000 Hamas foot-terrorists have been on the border all day today. There have been 4 unsuccessful attempts to break through the fence accompanied by the throwing of dozens of grenades, IEDs, Molotovs, and other weapons.

No Israelis have been wounded. Several Palestinians have been permanently dispatched.

At the same time, dozens more incendiary devices have been launched on balloons and kites into southern Israel. At the moment, there are no reports of fires.

In Judea and Samaria:

A Palestinian terrorist was shot and killed at the entrance to Givat HaAvot beside Kiryat Arba:

A heavily armed Palestinian terror squad was captured near Bethlehem today by fighters from the Shimshon Battalion. Apparently this is the terror cell responsible for the gunfire at Migdal Oz a week ago.

Yet another amazing turn in the case of the “Jewish minors” . . .

As you know from reading yesterday’s blog, 4 out of the 5 Jewish minors being held by Shin Bet without charges and interrogated about the death of a Palestinian woman two months ago were released by a military court yesterday because of there was no evidence against them whatsoever.

The 5th defendant was scheduled to appear in court today where his lawyers were going to demand his release, but Shin Bet refused to let him appear. The lawyers immediately petitioned the High Court of Justice to order a hearing, and it has done so.

By the way, the PLO launched a pr offensive today castigating Israel for the release of the 4 defendants claiming it was a subversion of justice. This is the same PLO that regularly chucks folks in prison without trial, tries them, and either executes them or puts them behind bars for life for such “crimes” as selling land to Jews.

Road 4370: “The Keeping Israelis Alive Road”

Road 4370--just opened yesterday.

A small section of Road 4370–just opened yesterday (photo: Times of Israel).

Road 4370 opened yesterday. It connects the community of Geva Binyamin to Road 1, between French Hill and the Naomi Shemer Tunnel. It is only a 5 km long highway, but it took thirteen years to build because of Israel’s continued kowtowing to international “human rights” organizations.

The road is divided by an eight meter high wall. The western side is for Palestinians whereas the eastern side is for Jewish community members who can now reach French Hill and Mt. Scopus more safely from Anatot, Geva Binyamin, and Route 60.

Israeli officials speaking at the road’s inauguration lauded it as creating a safer way for Jewish community members living in communities north of Jerusalem to access Jerusalem.

Not surprisingly, the PLO and its leftist followers have immediately branded the new road as the “Apartheid Road.” Your humble servant would prefer to call it “The Keeping Israelis Alive Road.”
