TODAY’S BLOG:

Thank You Again President Trump!

The U.S. Recognizes Israeli Sovereignty Over The Golan Heights

The news came suddenly from President Trump and characteristically in the form of a tweet:

“After 52 years it is time for the United States to fully recognize Israel’s Sovereignty over the Golan Heights, which is of critical strategic and security importance to the State of Israel and Regional Stability!”

There is only one thing to say: thank you President Trump for recognizing what no other American president has realized–that the Golan is of “critical strategic” importance to Israel—and that whatever claim Syria ever had to the Golan, it forfeited during the time it occupied the Heights between 1946 and 1967.

Of course, the Golan’s importance is as plain as day to anyone who has ever visited it. And, as we have often written on israelstreet, can you even begin to imagine where we would be if Syria, Iran, and Hezbollah were now sitting on the shores of the Kineret?

As plain as day to all those who want to see Israel survive, but not as plain as day to those who seek to undermine our country. In this category, those on the Israeli left as well as those Jews belonging to leftist organizations can be included.

Consider this statement yesterday from the ever abominable J Street:

“In response to President Trump’s tweet regarding US recognition of Israeli sovereignty in the Golan Heights, J Street President Jeremy Ben-Ami issues the following statement:

There’s no question that, at the present moment, maintaining control of the Golan Heights is of strategic and security importance to the state of Israel — particularly given the ongoing violence and instability in Syria. Ultimately, the final status of the territory will have to be determined by a negotiated agreement. Until then, premature US recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan is a needlessly provocative move that violates international law and does not enhance Israeli security.”

Hmm. Let’s see.

. . . is of strategic and security importance to israel . . . yet . . . does not enhance Israeli security.

What kind of Orwellian horse manure is this?

And Trump’s recognition “violates international law”? It is long past the time for us all to recognize the fact that when it comes to the Middle East, international law is an absurdity.

The simple fact is that J Street and others don’t give a whit about Israeli security.

So once again, thank you President Trump!
