Quote of the Day

“While the US government is working to improve the lives of the Palestinians by means of an exciting economic vision for the future, they have begun to threaten an intifada, attacks, and the burning of the land . . .”

Jason Greenblatt, Trump Middle East negotiator tweeting from the Bahrain conference yesterday.

Your humble servant thinks that even Greenblatt must be amazed by the venom spewing forth from Ramallah. The Palestinians are being offered billions of dollars of free money to upgrade their infrastructure, build schools and hospitals, and employ a million workers and what is their response?

The sign says it all.

The sign says it all.

As was pointed out by Abba Eban back in 2002 in reference to the Palestinians: “The Arabs never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.”

The News On The Israeli Street

A near disaster in the north . . .

Exemplary of the state of affairs in the IDF these days, two different IDF units were engaged in maneuvers yesterday when one mistook the other for an enemy force and opened fire with machine guns and mortars.

Thankfully, no soldiers were wounded, but even that shows how ill-prepared our troops are for what will come from Lebanon one day.

No new election? . . .

Numerous sources are reporting that faced with polls showing a decline in his popularity, PM Netanyahu is trying to find a way to “un-dissolve” the Knesset.

Apparently there is no legal way to accomplish this, but one component of the plan is to establish a national unity government with the Blue and White Party. In this latter regard, Blue and White has repeatedly declared that it will not form a unity government with Likud as long as Netanyahu is its leader.

The Israeli deficit begins to spiral out of control . . .

According to the Governor of the Bank of Israel Amir Yaron yesterday, the budget deficit now stands at 4.5% and is likely to go higher because of uncontrolled spending.

Yaron went on to point out that even though Israel’s debt to GDP ration has declined in recent years, it is on the rise again expected to reach more that 65% by next year.

Yaron added that the only ways out of this impending quagmire are to cancel spending in some social and economic areas and increase taxes.

TODAY’S BLOG:

“A Criminal Government, A Castrated Army”

14 fires were started yesterday along the Gaza border by explosive balloons launched by Palestinian terrorists in Gaza.

There were five fires in the Eshkol Regional Council, three fires in the Sha’ar Hanegev Regional Council, and six fires in the Sdot Negev Regional Council, with the worst being at Kibbutz Nir Am.
As my pal uncovered out, pancreatic cancer tends for viagra generika mastercard being really aggressive and incredibly brief to spread. Other explosive balloons landed elsewhere including one at a kindergarten at Kibbutz Sa’ad at about 4 pm–when there were no children present.

The remarkable thing about all of these fires and balloons is that the IDF did nothing in response.

Nothing. Zero. Zilch.

However, social media in the South went crazy. In regard to the balloon at the kindergarten, one anonymous person cynically posted what the IDF spokesman would have said:

If there were no children in the kindergarten, nothing happened.

If there were children in the kindergarten, no one was hurt.

If a child was injured, there were no other casualties.

If a child had been killed, all the other children in the kindergarten were saved.

If all the children in the kindergarten had been killed, thank goodness it did not fall in a school where there were more children.

If all the children in a larger school had been killed, we should not invade Gaza because our soldiers might get hurt.

Tamir Idan, head of the Sdot Negev Council, issued a statement which demanded that the government  “act immediately before a disaster happens . . . A firebomb in a kindergarten is just like a missile in a kindergarten … You can not keep silent, every day there are fires in the vicinity and there is no proper response from Israel.”

At last, there was some governmental response this morning with the IDF Cogat Unit announcing that no fuel will be transferred to Gaza today and the fishing range will remain at 5 km.

Wow!

A response that is no response.

We end today’s blog with three other posts from social media yesterday:

Bibi wake up! Attack them from the air What’s going on here ?? Where do we come from? Do not react? There is no deterrence.

and

We’re sick of the Gaza envelope. We’re tired. We do not have an appropriate answer. The fishing ranges? Today Two km, Tomorrow four, Yesterday ten, The day after tomorrow Five !!!! Enough with this joke Bibi wake up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and simply

A criminal government, a castrated army

This last comment is exactly correct. A government that does nothing to protect its citizens is criminal and should be replaced. A once proud army that used to defend its citizens and now does nothing has been castrated.
