The News On The Israeli Street

The Palestinian takeover of Area C continues . . .

Since our government will not monitor what is going on in Area C, it has fallen to the Regavim Movement to do so.

The news is disastrous.

Whereas the Israel Police and Civil administration will send out hundreds of workers and soldiers to remove 1 home in a Jewish community, nothing whatsoever is being done about the more than 58,435 illegal Palestinian structures in Area C–most of which are built with money from the European Union.

This number has doubled under PM Netanyahu (there were 29,784 in 2009); even worse, the Palestinians have staged a major illegal land grab commandeering some 78,626 dunams by simply planting crops on state land.

As usual, Jerusalem sleeps while Ramallah establishes facts on the ground.

A new anti-Israel organization is formed . . .

The announcement yesterday from The New Israel Fund:

progressives

“Ten organizations working for democracy, equality, and peace in Israel”?

In reality, these are ten organizations colluding to overthrow democratic elections, rip apart the fabric of Israeli society, and force Israeli concessions to the PLO and Hamas.

If Ameinu, Americans for Peace Now, Habonim Dror North America, Hashomer Hatzair, The Jewish Labor Committee, J Street, The New Israel Fund, Partners for Progressive Israel, Reconstructing Judaism, and T’ruah Join Together To Support Progressive Vision For Israel have one thing in common, it is a regressive vision of a Palestine unencumbered by a Zionist Israel.

In its announcement, the New Israel Fund cleverly cloaked the goals of the new “progressive” anti-Israel organization:

“It will coordinate campaigns designed to mobilize the majority of American Jews who share its progressive values and goals, support the work of Israeli progressives, and urge the US government to adopt policies that further Israeli-Palestinian peace. The Network will fight against US and Israeli policies that promote annexation, entrench occupation and undermine liberal democracy in Israel.”

Translated: the Progressive Israel Network will actively work to further divide American Jews into “progressive” and “non-progressive” camps, support the efforts of the Israeli leftist regressives, urge the American government to adopt policies that arm-twist Israelis into concessions to the PLO and Hamas, and fight against recognizing the Jewish reality on the ground in Judea, Samaria, and eastern Jerusalem.

One final note: it is simply amazing how the “left” around the world has co-opted words like “progressive” and “liberal” in a crass attempt to make those who disagree with them appear to be Neanderthal in their outlook.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Your Humble Servant Doesn’t Know

Whether To Laugh Or Cry

You will recall, dear reader that Israel signed an Egyptian-brokered “ceasefire agreement” with the terrorists in Gaza on Thursday night. The absurdity about this agreement is that Israel has not been firing anything at Gaza.

What the agreement promised was that Palestinian balloon terrorism would immediately cease as would terrorist attacks at the border fence.

In yesterday’s blog, your humble servant wrote:

“Who is kidding whom? How many of these idiotic truces have we been through in the last 5 years? And how long do you think it will take, dear reader, until an explosive balloon is launched today into southern Israel?”

The answer is that it didn’t take long. There were 14 more fires yesterday spread throughout the Eshkol and Sha’ar Hanagev regions.

Another fire in the Sha'ar Hanagev area yesterday morning. Note the solitary firetruck.

Some of the largest balloon clusters ever were launched into southern Israel:

Fortunately, this explosive cluster landed in an agricultural field.

Take a close look at the above photo. Do you see the string at the bottom of the cluster? What do you think it was attached to?

It was attached to this book written in Hebrew.

It was attached to this book written in Hebrew.

And what do you think was inside the book? If you guessed explosives, you would be correct. The book was a booby trap which exploded upon opening. Fortunately it was opened by a police robot so no one was wounded.

As for no more attacks on the border fence, some 5000 Hamasniks attacked the border with Molotovs, IEDs, and other “items”:

This photo was taken from the Palestinian side of the border. If you look closely, you can see smoke coming out from the back of the vehicle because it was on fire after being hit by a Molotov.

Oh, and your humble servant forgot to mention that two knife-armed terrorists were captured after they infiltrated across the border yesterday.

So, no more balloons and no more attacks?

As we said yesterday, what a joke.

A sick joke.

By the way, if you can believe this, Hamas asked Israel for an extra 24 hours to stop the balloons and fence attacks, and guess what? Of course, Israel quickly agreed.

The whole pathetic-ness of the situation was underscored on Israeli television last night when an unseen and anonymous senior IDF officer declared “We are not going to go to war over a few balloons.”

Unbelievable. Nobody wants a war, but why can’t the IDF simply take out the balloon launchers? Or position snipers to shoot down the balloons? Or send drones to get rid of the menace?

The bottom line is that nobody in the government cares; PM Netanyahu has disappeared–and has not uttered one sentence about what is happening in the South. All of his minions are wholly consumed with the upcoming September election.

Oh, and your humble servant almost forgot (for the second time), Gaza fishermen/smugglers were operating out to 15 km again yesterday, and diesel fuel was delivered to Gaza while all of the above was going on.

Your humble servant doesn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
