The above flag which was placed on the Gaza border fence by Palestinians Friday carries an interesting message. What we have is the PLO flag above and below the Nazi swastika. The obvious message is that the Palestinians embrace Nazi ideology.

The News On The Israeli Street

From the Gaza border:

Approximately 6000 Hamasniks “demonstrated” on the Gaza border on Friday and Saturday–“demonstrated” by throwing grenades, Molotovs, and IEDs at our soldiers. A number of Palestinian terrorists attempted unsuccessfully to breach the security fence. Two terrorists armed with knives and grenades were captured just after midnight last night.

Meanwhile their fellow Palestinian terrorists in Gaza launched dozens of explosive balloons into southern Israel which started at least 10 fires including ones at Kibbutz Lahav and in the Simhoni Forest close to Nahal Oz.

This fire was in the Simhoni Forest yesterday.

This fire was in the Simhoni Forest yesterday.

Wasn’t there supposed to be a “ceasefire” agreement whereby all attacks on the fence and all balloon launches into southern Israel were supposed to “cease”?

Sure there was, but as we in the South all know, all such agreements are garbage.

Give them your little finger . . .

. . . and they’ll try to take your whole hand. So goes the expression often used in Israel about the Palestinians.

And how true it is.

Following the Israeli government announcing approval for 740 new Palestinian homes in Area C the other day, the PLO announced yesterday that it will begin issuing hundreds of building permits for more Palestinian homes in Area C.

In making the announcement, the PLO said that it was relying on the European Union to implement the plans for the homes–illegal homes in an area supposedly under the total control of Israel.

Polls polls polls . . . and motivation . . .

A new election poll appears, literally, every eight hours here. Your humble servant has decided as he did back in March and April to summarize the polls each Friday–and not discuss all the ones each day.

One election note today: the Blue and White Party is extremely well organized this time. There are large Benny Gantz billboards everywhere (even here in the Likud stronghold of Ashdod), and virtually every intersection has flag-waving Blue and White supporters. If this is any indication of party motivation, Likud and Netanyahu are in trouble.

The Likud has lost its way . . .

The main reason Likud is in trouble is that it has lost its way and forgotten what it stands for. Consider this comment on Friday from Tzachi Hanegbi, Minister of Regional Cooperation Tzachi Hanegbi and Netanyahu confidante:

“We are a liberal Likud and do not accept racist people like Ben Gvir [of the Jewish Power party].”

Revealing. Demeaning. Absurd.

First of all, the fact that Hanegbi calls Likud “liberal” speaks volumes. Since when was Likud ever liberal? Its strength has always come from its conservative base.

Second, the fact that Hanegbi terms Ben Gvir a “racist” sounds echoes of the demeaning way that Hanegbi has put down residents of the South and other Israelis and the way that other Ashkenazi politicians have insulted Sephardic Israelis.

Third, PM Netanyahu, the head of Likud, has spent the better part of the last two weeks begging Ben Gvir to bond with the parties on the right. Hanegbi’s comment reveals Netanyahu’s actions for what they are–nothing more than a nauseating attempt to shore up himself.

The end of the Israel Project . . .

The Israel Project, a major pro-Israel group which attempted to distribute factual information about Israel has sadly gone bankrupt and closed its doors.

Begun during the second intifada in 2002 to buttress Israel’s image in the American media, the Israel Project began to go south in 2016 when it lost half of his donations because the Israel Project declared its opposition to the Iranian Nuclear Appeasement Deal cooked up by Barack Obama and John Kerry.

As you can gather from the above statement, most of the Project’s donors were members of the Democrat Party.

From 2016 until this past week, the Project attempted to strike a “middle of the road” pose, but that didn’t help matters. The few Republican donors to the Project were displeased over its lack of support for President Trump and pulled their funds.

We at israelstreet are sorry to see the Israel Project’s demise.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Living In Fear of Palestinian Violence

“Annexing the West Bank could lead to needless bloodshed.”

Yoram Cohen, former head of Israel’s Shin Bet Security Service, speaking on Friday morning

How many times have we heard this before?

If the Bahrain conference takes place, there will be a massive outbreak of Palestinian violence. (2019)

But there was none.

If the United States moves the Embassy to Jerusalem, there will be a massive outbreak of Palestinian violence. (2018)

But there was none.

If the U.S. closes the PLO office in Washington, there will be a massive outbreak of Palestinian violence. (2018)

But there was none.

If the United States recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, there will be a massive outbreak of Palestinian violence.(2017)

But there was none.

If Israel does not release all the terrorist prisoners in Israeli jails, there will be a massive outbreak of Palestinian violence. (2015)

But there was none.

And we could go much further back.

In 2010, Israeli officials told us that if Israel added the Cave of the Patriarchs and Rachel’s Tomb to the list of Jewish heritage sites, there would be a massive outbreak of Palestinian violence.

But we did anyway, and there was none.

And on and on. It is simply breathtaking how many Israeli officials and former officials live in a constant state of fear of Palestinian violence. Instead of being proactive in eliminating whatever threat exists, they always encourage us to kowtow and bend our principles for fear of a massive outbreak of Palestinian violence.
