Tisha B’Av and Palestinian Terror

10 Av 5779

11 August 2019

Special Notice: Tisha B’Av

Today is the 10th of Av. However, since the 9th of Av fell on Shabbat yesterday, the 9th of Av “began” last night and is being commemorated today. For your humble servant, it began with a lively march (click here for a sense of what we faced last night at the Damascus Gate) as we walked around the Muslim Quarter of the Old City with the Women in Green last night around midnight, and continues today with the traditional fast.

As we remember the destruction of the First and Second Temples, let us fight ever harder for Israeli sovereignty over the Temple Mount, over the entire city of Jerusalem, and over Area C of Judea and Samaria!

The Insane Quote of Yesterday

“I support the right of Jews to pray on the Temple Mount, but I think a distinction must be made between right and reason in the realization of our political and religious situation. Tomorrow, Tisha B’Av and Eid Al-Adha fall on the same day. Jews should be prevented from going to the Temple Mount to prevent unnecessary violence.”

Leftist Israeli leader Zahava Galon, urging the police to stop Jews from going to the Temple Mount today.

Can you believe this statement of utter and complete surrender? Galon would have us believe that Jews worshiping and mourning on the Temple Mount on Tisha B’Av would be the cause of violence–not the Muslim Arabs who would actually perpetrate the violence.

And so, on one of the days of the year when Jews most embrace our tragic history of lost First and Second Temples, we should just allow the Muslims to take over.

Incredible. And sickening.

Update:

Yet this is precisely what the Israel police have just decided this morning: no Jews will be permitted on the Mount today so as not to disturb Muslim “prayers” on this Muslim holiday.

Unbelievably disgusting.

Do you want to see what Muslim prayers at the holiest place in Judaism look like this morning? This photo was just taken of a sign being hung at the entrance to the Kipat HaSela (Dome of the Rock):

Muslim prayer on the Mount? What a joke. The sign supports Hamas and reads that Palestinians will never accept Trump's peace plan. Also note the Muslim Brotherhood hero, deceased Mohammed Morsi, in the lower right of the sign.

Do you want to further see the sorry state of affairs and how the Temple Mount has become judenrein?

Jews waiting in vain to ascend to the Temple Mount this morning.

What is the sickening message from the Temple Mount this morning?

Simple.

According to the Netanyahu government, Israel has no longer has sovereignty over our holiest place. It is no longer Jewish; it belongs first and foremost to the Muslims.

What a perversion on Tisha B’Av.

“We thank the security forces for quickly capturing the terrorists, we were just sorry that they were caught alive.”

Yoav Sorek, father of murdered student soldier Dvir Sorek, commenting on the news that the murderers have been captured.

How true. Because they were caught alive, we will now all be subjected to years of  unnecessary trials, and years of supporting the terrorists in prison as they gain university degrees, watch television, and generally cavort with other incarcerated terrorists.

And we get to watch them as they make millions of dollars from their PLO salaries.

The News On The Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 48 hours . . .

On the Gaza border:

Let’s begin with the most recent incident–which is ongoing.

Yet another armed Palestinian terrorist–this one from the elite Hamas Nahba unit– attempted to breach the border security fence a few hours ago, was spotted, and was shot and killed before he could carry out his attack. In the aftermath of this “incident” there has been a continuous firefight in the area with IDF artillery firing at Hamas and (reportedly) Hamas firing mortars at our troops.

All of this follows the terror incident yesterday in which four heavily armed Palestinian terrorists were shot and killed after they began attacking our soldiers. As you can see from the photos below, the terrorists were carrying assault rifles, RPGs, grenades, and numerous other weapons:

Assault rifles carried by the terrorists.

And . . .

RPGs and grenades.

RPGs and grenades.

Hilariously, Hamas condemned the “Israeli crime” of  “murdering young angry men.” George Orwell would have been proud.

In Judea and Samaria:

Of course, the big news of the day was the capture of the Palestinian murderers of Dvir Sorek.

First, we had news that the IDF had tracked down the car in which the terrorists were driving to Beit Fajjar just outside Bethlehem. Then came news that the terror cell had been caught in Beit Khalil, north of Hevron.

In total, six terrorists are now under arrest.

As noted above, the unfortunate part of this story is that the six terrorists were not killed on the spot.

That may be because the squad that captured the terrorists first sent in a dog to scout out the area. When there was no response from inside, the soldiers went in, discovered the terrorists asleep, and took them into custody.

Addendum: Part 3 of our trip to eastern Jerusalem with Ateret Cohanim will come in tomorrow’s blog.
