The Amazing Demand of the Day

With terrorists in Gaza continuing to pummel southern Israelis with missiles and explosive bombs, the Egyptians have just demanded:

*that Israel commit to a ceasefire with the terrorists in Gaza without preconditions

*that Israel increase the amount of humanitarian aid being sent to Gaza

Can you believe this?

They can fire at us at will, and we are supposed to do nothing?

And we are supposed to increase humanitarian aid? Why is that Israel’s responsibility? After all, why doesn’t Egypt–which controls the Rafah Crossing from Gaza to Egypt–send in humanitarian aid that way?

It is all just plain crazy.

The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terrorism in the last 24 hours . . .

On the Gaza border:

Barrage after barrage of explosive balloons continues raining down on southern Israel. Today has seen explosions in Nir Yisrael, Nitzanim, Nitzan, Be’er Ganim, at various places in the Eshkol Region as well as the area east of Beit Hanun.

In Judea and Samaria:

Palestinian terrorists have used Molotovs and “rocks” to attack Israelis at Dotan, Tapuach, Hermesh, Jab, Luban A-Sharqiya, north of Ofra, the T-Junction in Gush Etzion, Tekoa, on Road 458 near Al-Muayyir, on Road 465 at Deir Abu Mash’al, Hizma, and Al-Aruv.

Residents on the ground reported the above attacks to Rescue Without Borders, Rescue Judea and Samaria, rotter, and hakolhayehudi.

Speaking of terrorists, the UN Human Rights Commission . . .

. . . has returned to 1930s Germany by producing a blacklist of 112 companies to avoid doing business with. 94 of the businesses are in Judea and Samaria and other parts of Israel, while 18 (which do business with Israel) are located in the US, UK, Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Thailand.

Who will be hardest hit by the new blacklist if it is successful?

Palestinians.

The 94 Israeli businesses employ hundreds, if not thousands, of Palestinian workers who are now at risk for loss of a job.

The irony is that these businesses are at the forefront of coexistence, a fact totally lost on the cretins at the United Nations.

The judges for PM Netanyahu’s trial have been chosen . . .

And the news is not good for Netanyahu. The three-judge panel at the District Court in Jerusalem will be headed by Judge Rebecca Friedman-Feldman. Feldman was the chief judge in the former PM Ehud Olmert trial that resulted in Olmert going to prison.

The other two judges will be Moshe Baram and Oded Shaham.

The world of Israeli politics . . .

In case we have all forgotten, it is now only 21 days until the next election. Yesterday was all about forming or not forming alignments.

Most of the news was focused on Benny Gantz’s Kahol Levan Party which began the day by making an agreement with the Meretz/Labor party for surplus votes.

Then followed a bizarre sequence in which we first had the Joint Arab List declaring it could never support Gantz unless he came out publicly to denounce transferring the Arab triangle in the north to Palestine (a suggestion of the Trump Plan) and unilaterally annexing the Jordan Valley and parts of Judea and Samaria.

This was followed by a Gantz speech in which he did precisely what the Joint Arab List asked. He followed this up by saying that Kahol Lavan could not form a coalition with the Joint Arab List. By nightfall, Gantz was backtracking and talking about forming some sort of “outside” relationship with the Arabs.

But even that will not help Gantz because the Arabs also stated yesterday that they will never be in any arrangement that includes Avigdor Lieberman and his Yisrael Beiteinu Party.

What’s the bottom line (so far)? We are in exactly the same situation that we have been in for the last 9 months. There is no way for Netanyahu and his “right” block to get to 61 seats. There is no way for Gantz and his “left” block to get to 61 seats.

TODAY’S BLOG:

A Man of Peace

The utterly abominable Ehud Olmert was in New York yesterday for a joint appearance with PLO Chairman and terrorist Mahmoud Abbas. Olmert praised Abbas as “a man of peace”, and “the only partner that Israel can negotiate with.”

Olmert went on to say that “unfortunately we could not reach an agreement in the past.” In case Olmert has become senile, he should be reminded that Abbas claimed that Olmert never presented a peace proposal.

Olmert’s absurd peace proposal did have one beneficial effect. It finally revealed the Palestinian lie once and for all. The Olmert proposal would have turned over 94% of Judea and Samaria to the Palestinians and compensated the Palestinians for the missing 6% by giving them land in Israel. What was more, the idiotic Olmert also agreed to remove Israeli sovereignty over the Old City of Jerusalem and replace it with an international consortium consisting of the Palestinians, Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the United States, and . . .

The unbelievable offer that Olmert made to Abbas back in 2008. The Palestinians would have received virtually everything they supposedly demand.

The unbelievable offer that Olmert made to Abbas back in 2008. The Palestinians would have received virtually everything they supposedly demand. Yellow areas would be “Palestine”; blue areas would be annexed to Israel; red areas are parts of Israel that would be given to the PLO. Notice that eastern Jerusalem is white–to represent the international consortium that would be given sovereignty.

And still the Palestinians–led by “the man of peace”– turned it down. Never more can anyone ever claim that all the Palestinians want is to return to the June 4, 1967 (aka 1949 Armistice lines).

If we have written it once, we have written it a thousand times: what the Palestinians want is Israel.
