The flag on Mt. Herzl has just been raised from half-mast to the top signalling the end of Yom Hazikaron and the beginning of modern Israel’s 72nd Yom Atzmaut.

The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

Israelis have been attacked by Palestinian terrorists since the rebirth of Israel in 1948 (and as we know even before that). Today was no different.

The two most egregious examples:

*At 12:30 pm today, a 62-year-old woman walking near Weizmann Street in the area of the G Mall in Kfar Saba was stabbed repeatedly in her torso by a Palestinian terrorist from Tulkarm. Fortunately, a nearby civilian saw what was taking place and opened fire on the terrorist wounding him. The woman is now in intensive care after surgery.

*Later in the afternoon, another Palestinian terrorist tried to throw an IED at Israeli soldiers at the Tarquimiya Junction close to Hevron. Fortunately, the IED blew up in the terrorist’s hand. Unfortunately, he was only badly wounded.

In response to these and other terror attacks today, the Israeli Minister of Construction and Housing agreed to allow 36,400 Palestinian workers into the country in the coming weeks.

Yes, you read that correctly.

The daily Corona update . . .

As of this hour, there are 15,728 confirmed cases in Israel–but 7,772 of these people have recovered. 92 Israelis are on ventilators, and 210 have died.

Some good news: the 11-year-old girl at Rambam Hospital in Haifa that we asked you to pray for yesterday has taken a turn for the better. She is off the ventilator and responsive to external stimuli. Keep praying!

The devastating economic news is that the unemployment rate is 27.4%. 1,141,968 Israelis are unemployed.

The cost of housing has generally declined throughout the country during the crisis; however four cities have seen price increases: Tel Aviv (13%), Raanana (6.2%), Ashdod (5.4%), and Bat Yam (also 5.4%).

The disingenuously pathetic comment of yesterday . . .

If you can believe this, the ever pathetic Benny Gantz said this while on a radio program during Yom Hazikaron:

“You come to bereaved families who lost their sons due to service but not in combat circumstances to some extent. I look at that night when IDF forces entered Operation Gaza into the Gaza Strip and I sit in the room of the General Staff at the Kirya in Tel Aviv, and I see the troops marching in and I know not everyone is going to come back.”

Gantz was talking about when he was the IDF Chief of Staff in 2014. What he didn’t say is that the reason “not everyone came back” was because of his utter incompetence.

Not only did he send the troops into battle with markedly inferior equipment, he also unnecessarily exposed them to danger once in Gaza and even in waiting areas outside of Gaza.

And to think that this atrocious “commander” is now going to be our new Defense Minister.

Unbelievable.

The Supreme Court announces hearings . . .

Esther Hayut, the demonstrably anti-Netanyahu President of the Israel Supreme Court, announced today that the Court will hear the petitions against the formation of a new government with Netanyahu as prime minister on Sunday and Monday of next week.

If the Court agrees with the petitioners, Israel will head to new elections.

Biden and Judea and Samaria . . .

Tony Blinken, a senior Jewish advisor to Democrat Party nominee-to-be Joe Biden announced today that if Biden is elected President, Biden will oppose all attempts by Israel to declare sovereignty over and annex the Jewish communities of Judea and Samaria.

Of course this is no surprise.

Just look at what Biden did when he was Obama’s vice president.

This merely underscore the importance of acting now!

TODAY’S BLOG

Happy Holiday to the State of Israel!

Today’s Blog is the shortest one your humble servant has ever written. It is the tweet that PM Netanyahu sent out today:

Citizens of Israel, we have a great country! Happy Holiday to the State of Israel!

It could not have been better stated!
