The Pro-PLO Photo and Quote of the Day

Peace Now (Shalom Akshav) once again out on the front lines supporting the PLO.

Defense Minister Naftali Bennett issued a decision yesterday which approved proceeding with the planning for 20,000 new housing units in the E2 area east of Efrat in Judea. To create the space for the new units, Bennett authorized the expansion of Efrat by 1100 dunams (271 acres). As you can see in the photo, it didn’t take long for the left-wing loonies in Israel to pour into the street in support of the PLO (aka “the poor Palestinians”).

Before the protest, Peace Now issued this statement: “This is the cynical move by a temporary defense minister at the end of his term that promotes a dangerous plan in the southern part of the West Bank and damages the prospect of a two-state solution . . . [Bennett is] an irresponsible politician willing to cross any red line in the name of his messianic ideology.”

“Messianic ideologues” is the new phrase used by lefties to demean those who believe that Judea and Samaria are the central part of the homeland of Israel and should be annexed to the country immediately.

The simple fact is that Defense Minister Bennett should be praised for making the decision about Efrat–and for numerous other decisions he has made in the last 4 months.

Hamas terrorists launched missiles into the Eshkol Region of southern Israel last night to which the IDF responded with tank fire that hit three Hamas observation posts in northern Gaza. Apparently one “poor 25-year-old Palestinian terrorist” didn’t get the message to get out of his particular post and was killed.

Good riddance.

The High Court Renders Its Decision After . . .

The Israel High Court of Justice issued a decision tonight that clears the way for PM Netanyahu to form a government–and to form a national unity government with Benny Gantz.

In making the unanimous decision, the Court said: “We have not found any legal grounds to intervene in imposing the task of forming the government on MK Netanyahu. That is why we unanimously decided to dismiss the petitions on this issue.”

So there we have it, the Court finally kept its sticky fingers out of where they do not belong.

Well, not really.

The Court was determined to weigh in and did not issue its decision until Likud and Kahol Lavan cowtowed to the 11 Justices and amended the agreement. Here were the demands of the Court:

1. The Court ordered that a clause that barring the appointment of senior officials during the unity government’s first six months be shortened to 100 days.

2. The Court ordered that another clause that doesn’t allow for most non-coronavirus-related legislation to be advanced for the first six months of the government be dropped.

3. The Court ordered that the new Coalition agree that emergency orders meant to curb the spread of the virus not be extended beyond six months.

As if the above three were not enough, the Court outrageously also “strongly insisted” that the new government put members of the opposition parties (the Joint Arab List, Lapid and Ya’alon’s Party, and Lieberman’s Yisrael Beiteinu) in charge of important Knesset committees.

Can you believe this?

Of course you can.

They are precisely orders and “insistences” like these that once again make everyone aware of just how desperately the Israel Supreme Court/High Court of Justice needs to be changed–or that laws must be passed to limit its power.

By the way, both Netanyahu and Gantz at least had the cajones to reject this insistence by the Court.

In any case, the voting has already begun in the Knesset to gain 61 mandates for Netanyahu to form the emergency government. Here’s what the form looks like:

Likud MK casting her vote for PM Netanyahu to form the next government.

Likud MK Tzipi Hotovely casting her vote for PM Netanyahu to form the next government.  By the way the name in the first blank is Benjamin Netanyahu, the name in the second two is “Tzipi Hotovely.”
