Poignant Post of the Day
A post that PM Netanyahu put on social media yesterday. He and his family were at the grave site on Mt. Herzl of his brother Yoni (Yonatan Netanyahu) who was killed in the Entebbe Rescue mission on July 4, 1976.
The Hebrew that the prime minister wrote reads: “At a small family ceremony because of Corona restrictions, we held a memorial service for my brother marking the 44th anniversary of his fall in the Entebbe Operation. The pain is only getting worse over the years, and its hard to find comfort. Of blessed memory.”
The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
*A Palestinian terrorist attempted to infiltrate from the sea at Zikim Beach on the Gaza border. The terrorist was intercepted swimming 200 meters from the beach by a Navy patrol boat.
*Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis with “rocks” and Molotovs at Qalandiya, Al Aruv, Luban a-Sharqiya, the Na’alin Checkpoint on Road 446, Beit El, and near Hevron among several dozen locations.
The daily Corona update . . .
As of 8 am this morning (Monday):
there are 23,755 confirmed cases—an increase of 334 since this time yesterday
17,074 of these have recovered—an increase of 72
39 are in serious condition—a decrease of 2
22 are on ventilators—a decrease of 1
318 have died–an increase of 1
Creating another self-fulfilling prophecy . . .
The PLO leadership in Ramallah, along with their leftist friends in Israel and around the world, have been busy for the last month creating a self-fulfilling violent prophecy.
That prophecy is that because of “political despair and a deep economic crisis” (the words of an Abu Mazen associate yesterday), we can expect to see an increase in shootings, car rammings, stabbings, and even suicide bombers should Israel go ahead with a sovereignty announcement in two days.
The absurdity is that the PLO is doing everything within its power to make this happen both by refusing to return to peace negotiations with Israel and by refusing to take 500,000,000 shekels a month in tax receipts collected by Israel. As we have reported in relationship to the latter, the idea is to create unrest among a largely indifferent Palestinian population by holding back funds.
One unnamed Palestinian official declared yesterday that “we are being sacrificed on the altar of annexation while our leaders continue to enjoy the pleasures of life.”
Illegal Palestinians flood Israel . . .
As you know from reading OneIsrael, the Health and Interior Ministries have established strict restrictions on Palestinian workers entering and exiting Israel during the Corona situation.
Those restrictions have all gone by the wayside.
Amazing videos surfaced this morning of hundreds of Palestinian illegal workers crossing the perimeter fence near Sha’ar Ephraim. Even more amazing is how the videos show Israeli security personnel standing by and doing nothing:

The police do nothing about the above but . . .
. . . on the other hand crack the draconian whip against Jews in the Old City of Jerusalem.
In an absolutely unbelievable incident Sunday night, a 14 year old Jewish boy was arrested by the Jerusalem Police while he and his friends were attempting to walk around the Old City at night.
A video made of his arrest shows that he did nothing to warrant being arrested and then passively resisted arrest by lying down in the street.
After he was arrested, he was handcuffed to a wooden bench all night, given non-kosher food to eat (which he did not) and nothing to drink. He was finally released yesterday.

It is simply amazing how the police can focus their efforts on arresting a 14-year-old and other police can ignore hundreds of real lawbreakers.
By the way, the police proceeded to ban the boy from entering the Old City for the next 60 days. You can be sure that a lawsuit against the police will be quickly forthcoming.
New words in Hebrew! . . .
The Hebrew Language academy has just issued its list of newly created words in Hebrew.

If you said the Corona virus . . . you would be mistaken.
Actually it is a representation of one of 4 different types of jellyfish now visiting the waters off the Israel coast. The Language Academy has named this one: “the Mediterranean egg.”
The other three jellyfish varieties were also named, and words were created for “underdog” and “emoji.”

Ok dear reader, here is your quiz for today:
Is there anyone on the planet who really believes that the Palestinians will recognize a Jewish state of Israel?
Is there anyone on the planet who really believes that the PLO will stop paying salaries to Palestinian terrorists in Israeli prisons?
Is there anyone on the planet who really believes that the Palestinians will disarm Hamas and Islamic Jihad in Gaza?
Is there anyone on the planet who really believes that the Palestinians will abandon their delusion of bringing 5,000,000+ so-called Palestinian “refugees” to settle in Israel?
Is there anyone on the planet who really believes that the Palestinians really want peace just along the 1949 Armistice Lines?
Is there anyone on the planet who really believes that . . . well you get the idea. The answer to all of the above is of course a resounding “no.”
None of us are that naive.
And yet, we had PM Netanyahu in a recorded video speaking at a CUFI virtual conference yesterday saying “The Palestinians need to sit down for negotiations, I’m ready.”
He topped it off with this whopper: “I’m convinced that we can build a future of peace and reconciliation.”
Obviously, Netanyahu doesn’t believe any of this nonsense any more than the CUFI listeners did yesterday. We all realize that this is just part of the game. To get all or some of the goodies in the Trump Peace Vision, Netanyahu has to play along as if he thinks the Palestinians might be a real partner for peace.
All in all, it was Netanyahu disingenuity at its best. Let’s hope it leads to a sovereignty declaration on in two days.
A student from Malawi, who had worked with an Israeli health volunteer in his country battling AIDS, came up to us as we walked down the street in the UC-Davis Picnic Day Parade and wanted to carry the Israeli flag.
