The News on the Israeli Street

Huwara, Qalqilya, just west of the Ma’ale Levona Junction, Beit Dajan, Al-Mu’ayyir, Salfit, Kfar Kedum, Luban A-Sharqiya, Abud, on the Gush Etzion-Hevron Road–these were 10 locations out of some two dozen where Israelis were attacked by Palestinian terrorists yesterday.

According to the Voice of Israel, there were more than 40 terror attacks this week in which 7 Israelis were wounded.

The daily Corona (Covid-19) update . . .

Please note that these numbers encompass from 8 pm yesterday until 8 pm today (Friday):

718,746 Israelis have been confirmed with the virus since the pandemic began last March.

There are 6,668 newly confirmed cases.

1,002 are in critical condition—a decrease of 38

315 of the most critically ill are on ventilators—a decrease of 7

5,304 have died–an increase of 38

There are currently 61,920 active Corona cases in Israel.

Why? . . .

Sometimes, in fact often, Israeli government decisions defy comprehension.

This past week all of the Palestinian terror organizations met in Cairo, ostensibly to plan their campaign strategies in the upcoming Palestinian elections. We say “ostensibly” because we all know what was really being discussed.

The Cairo meeting is beyond Israel’s control. After all, Palestinians can exit Areas A and B  via the Allenby Bridge through Jordan or Gaza via the Rafah Crossing through Egypt.

But why on earth did Israel allow PLO official Hussein A-Sheikh to meet with terrorist murderer Marwan Barghouti in Israel prison this past week? Barghouti, who is serving seven life terms for murder, is widely regarded as the Palestinian who would likely receive the most votes for Palestinian leadership were he able to run–and is believed to direct terror operations from prison.

Will Barghouti actually be on the ballot in July? Is that even conceivable?

Only in Israel.

The Response To Iranian Production Of Metallic Uranium

In what has to be one of the most disingenuous statements even for the P5+1, the French, British, and German governments expressed concern yesterday over the discovery by the International Atomic Energy Agency that Iran is producing metallic uranium–a material used to form the core of a nuclear weapon.

The statement notes that such production has no civilian use and is a “key component” in the production of nuclear weapons. In fact, you only need 1 pound of metallic uranium for a nuclear weapon.

1 pound.

And . . . hold your breath dear reader . . . the three countries say that if Iran continues production of metallic uranium, it might cause them to rethink their support for the JCPOA (aka “Iranian Nuclear Weapons Appeasement Agreement”).

It might cause them?

All of which leads us back to our original description of this being a disingenuous statement.

Why is it disingenuous?

Because we all know that that no matter how much uranium Iran enriches to what percent, and no matter how much metallic uranium it produces, and no matter how many ballistic missiles it manufactures, France, the U.K., Germany–and now the Biden Administration–will continue to endorse the abominable JPCOA.
