UPDATE 1:30 PM ISRAEL TIME
It has been just over 3 hours since our last update, and southern Israel has been hit with another 145 missiles–bringing to some 250 the number of missiles that have struck in the last 7 hours.
Hardest hit have been the areas around Sderot and Ashkelon.
At least 8 wounded Israelis have arrived at Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon.
The IDF seems to be finally doing something in response. According to various reports, at least 10 terrorists have been killed. Hamas reports that another 20 “civilians” have been dispatched–but this number is, as we all know, fraudulent.
In the meantime, massive rioting has broken out in Israeli-Arab cities (or cities which have a predominantly Israeli-Arab population. In Ramla, rampaging Israeli-Arabs burned a Jewish cemetery.
UPDATE 10:15 PM ISRAEL TIME
Another 40 missiles have been fired at Israel in the last hour as barrage after barrage has struck from Ashkelon down to Kissufim–all along the Gaza border. Some 200,000 Israelis remain huddled in their bomb shelters.
One of the missiles that Islamic Jihad fired at Ashkelon an hour ago was a Bader 3 (quarter ton) missile.
GSS personnel in charge of gathering intelligence in the Gaza Strip are now sitting with IDF Southern Command and Air Force personnel to provide real-time intelligence and produce targets.
UPDATE 9:15 PM ISRAEL TIME
More than 65 missiles have now been fired into Israel in the last three hours. The last barrage of 20 missiles which occurred 15 minutes ago targeted the area around Ashkelon.
Hamas has just issued a statement that “for us the ‘event’ is over.”
And still, there is no significant response from Israel. There are conflicting reports that a Islamic Jihad operative on a motorcycle was killed, and a few artillery rounds seem to have hit three ramshackle Hamas outposts (that were empty).
PM Netanyahu has issued this nonsensical statement: “We did not want escalation, but those who chose to escalate will feel the comfort of our arms. I cannot share with you the assessments of the situation that I have with all the security forces, nor in all the actions that we are taking. It is a stubborn struggle derived from seeing the big picture. We manage it with determination, responsibility and wisdom.”
Determination, responsibility and wisdom? Who is kidding whom? What we have had are 12 years of weakness, irresponsibility, and stupidity–which is why Israel has absolutely no deterrence against the Palestinian terror groups.

At this very moment (6 pm Israel time), incoming missile sirens are sounding in Jerusalem, Beit Shemesh, Lachish, Mateh Yehuda, Sderot and elsewhere.
The Knesset has just suspended operations.
Missile attacks are taking place against Ashkelon and Ashdod.
Terrorists have just fired a Cornet missile at an IDF jeep on the Gaza border.
The IDF reports that an armed group of terrorists just assaulted the Erez Crossing.
How did we ever get to this point? How did we ever get to a day like today on which:
Our capital of Jerusalem is a missile target?
The Jerusalem Flag Day Parade was ordered not to pass through the Nablus Gate?
No Jew was allowed on the Temple Mount on Jerusalem Day?
We came to this day because of two words: Benjamin Netanyahu.
Just think about earlier today.
A few minutes after Netanyahu proclaimed that Israel will respond forcefully to any missile fire from Gaza, what did the terrorists do?
Fired missiles from Gaza.

What did Netanyahu do?
Nothing.
It has been the story of the last 12 years. Netanayahu makes threats and does nothing all in the name of maintaining the status quo and “containment.”
There were more than 50 missiles fired a few weeks ago, and once again Israel did nothing. According to one military reporter, “the armaments were already on the planes, the pilots were wearing the overalls and everything was ready for a significant attack after the operations division approved the operation. At the last minute, the Netanyahu cabinet canceled the attack.”
The problem with containment is that it does not contain the terrorists; it emboldens them and allows them to obtain ever more powerful weapons. In doing so, they change the status quo making Israelis ever more vulnerable.
It is an utterly failed policy.
