A photo from a bombed section of Gaza.

The above photo of a “poor Palestinian mother” walking by the rubble of a building while carrying her baby was posted by Reuters late this afternoon. The obvious intent is to engender sympathy for the Palestinians. Of course, it was not pointed out that the destroyed building contained a Hamas arsenal of missiles intended to be used to kill Israeli children, women, and men.

As of 8:30 tonight, 253 missiles had already been launched out of Gaza toward Israel today. So many missiles have now been fired that it is difficult to keep an updated number, but the total number fired since the war  began appears to be around 3800.

The IDF is expected to launch massive attacks against Hamas and Islamic Jihad assets in the coming hours. An IDF spokesman has just told local mayors along the Gaza border to expect another 48 hours of IDF attacks.

UPDATES 4 am Israel Time

Click here for a brief, brilliant articulation of what is going on from SkyNews Australia broadcaster Rowan Dean.

The IAF has carried out more than 100 attacks on targets in Palestinian Gaza during the last three hours hitting Hamas assets in Khan Younis, Beit Lahiya, Gaza City, Al-Shati, and near the Shifa Hospital. At the same time, Israeli forces are destroying the roads and streets within Gaza. Our aircraft are using air to ground weaponry as well as GBU-31 and GBU-39 bombs.

In the last wave, IAF aircraft unleashed 50 bombs in 10 minutes.

Meanwhile, Ramat Gan sends a message to Hamas. The residents of the two buildings that were hit two days ago have put up these flags:

Bravo Ramat Gan!

Bravo Ramat Gan!

Somewhat unusually, there has been little missile fire between 2:00 and 4:00 am this morning–following a barrage between 1:00-1:45 on Beersheva.

However, the terrorists regularly begin firing intensively around 4:00 or 5:o0 each day.

There continues to be no talk of a ceasefire though Egypt, Qatar, and Jordan are aggressively trying to persuade Israel to agree to one.

Stay tuned for further details as the day progresses.
