Terrible Photo of the Night

A wounded woman being taken away by MADA to a nearby hospital. She was hit in the side of the head (note the blood in her ear and down her face) by a “rock” thrown by a Palestinian terrorist near Huwara at the Beitot Junction.

This was one of many attacks on Israelis overnight in Judea and Samaria.

Hypocritical Quote of the Day

“This new government won’t be able to stand up against demands to freeze construction in Judea and Samaria and in Jerusalem . . .”

Benjamin Netanyahu in another tirade against Naftali Bennett yesterday–this time ranting about how he is better able to deal with the Biden Administration.

The irony, of course, is that Benjamin Netanyahu virtually froze all construction in Judea, Samaria, and Jerusalem during his 11 year reign.  Always fearful of what Washington would say,  Netanyahu refused to permit construction in such areas as the E1 area beside Maaleh Adumim and at numerous places in Jerusalem.

The News on the Israeli Street

A new Corona update . . .

Shortened this time:

195 people in the country have Corona.

There were 4 new cases yesterday (all 4 were people who flew into Israel and were checked at the airport).

37 Israelis remain in critical condition.

6,418 have died.

Another break in Israel . . .

Hamas has just issued a statement concerning the nauseating decision to cancel the Flag Parade on Thursday (see Today’s Blog below):

“Another break in Israel and the establishment of a new equation according to which Jerusalem is a red line.”

So now, the two-bit Palestinian terror organization Hamas controls what we can do in our own capital city. What will they order next?

Can’t you see the future? “We will attack Israel with missiles if”:

–Israel hosts an international conference on Zionism in Jerusalem . . .

–Israel tries to finish rebuilding the Tiferet Synagogue in the Jewish Quarter . . .

–Israel plays Argentina in a soccer game in Jerusalem’s Teddy Stadium . . .

–Israel permits Jews to go to the Temple Mount . . .

–Israel does not order the King David hotel to give free rooms to Palestinian “refugees” . . .

The list is endless.

TODAY’S BLOG

“We have forgotten how to win.”

What do you think you are looking at?

What do you think you are looking at?

What you are looking at is something you will most likely never see again.

This was a military parade through the streets of a newly unified Jerusalem on Israel Independence Day, May 3, 1968. More than 600,000 Israelis, about one fourth of the country’s population, lined the streets of our eternal capital.

Here is a fascinating piece of the reportage about the parade courtesy of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency:

“The parade had become the subject of international controversy in recent weeks. A bitter complaint by Jordan, supported by the other Arab states, resulted in a Security Council resolution demanding that Israel cancel it. Similar advice came from many quarters abroad, including some friendly to Israel. And there was a large body of opinion at home that questioned the wisdom of a display of military might in a city so recently unified. But the parade went off without incident. Dire threats of terrorist strikes and sabotage failed to materialize. Israeli forces nonetheless took elaborate security precautions. The entire parade route was guarded by armed troops stationed on roof tops and patrolled by helicopters.”

Your humble servant could not help but think about this today as word came from the Commissioner of Police that the rescheduled Flag Parade rescheduled for Thursday has been canceled in the face to threats from Hamas and Islamic Jihad to attack Israeli with missiles.

Knesset Legislator Bezalel Smotrich put it very well after hearing about the cancellation:

“The police commissioner is unable to protect marchers on the streets of Jerusalem with Israeli flags and is unable to protect the Jewish residents of Lod, Ramla and Akko. Now he is also making Yahya Sinwar the one who runs Jerusalem. This is a shameful surrender to terrorism and Hamas threats.”

The photo above also appeared on social media after the cancellation along with the anonymous comment: “We have forgotten how to win.”

Indeed, “winning” is no longer in our military and police vocabulary. It has long since been replaced by the word “containment.”

And now that we have absolutely no way to contain or deter Palestinian terrorists, we find ourselves groveling submissively and shamefully at their feet.
