The News on the Israeli Street

On the Corona front . . .

Israel definitely appears to be heading toward a remasking of the population.

Another 96 Israelis tested positive yesterday; 14 more tested positive after landing at Ben Gurion Airport.

64 of those 96 newly verified are students in Israeli schools.

On the Palestinian front . . .

**Hamas and Islamic Jihad are both threatening an imminent return to hostilities with Israel this morning if the crossings with Israel are not permanently opened (the Erez and Kerem Shalom Crossings are already operating full-time) and Qatari blackmail money is not immediately received.

These threats are coming in the context of the apparent stalemate in Cairo talks between Israel and the terrorists–a stalemate that impacts the “rehabilitation” within Gaza, and the exchange of prisoners held by Hamas.

**The Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center has released the most complete documentation concerning Palestinians killed in Gaza during the recent conflict. According to its report:

244 Palestinians were killed

112 of the 234 were definitely associated with Hamas (63), Islamic Jihad (20), or other terror groups (29)

11 more were “highly likely” to have been associated with the terror groups

5 more of those killed were members of “internal police forces”

21 were killed by Palestinian missiles that misfired

“Civilians” killed included 52 children, 38 women, and 5 over the age of 70. Almost all of those killed were either family members of a terrorist whose home was struck, or people living above the Hamas metro tunnel network (they died when a tunnel collapsed causing their living area to implode).

Ra’am flexes its muscles in the new Coalition . . .

The anti-Israel Islamist Ra’am party upon which the new Coalition depends on for support is holding up the passage of an extension of the so-called “Family Unification” law set to come before the Knesset in a few days.

Lest we forget, the purpose of the Family Unification law is to prevent the flooding of Palestinians from Gaza, and Areas A and B of Judea and Samaria into Israel via marriage.
The convenience of the parents is of prime importance. viagra cialis achat Minus the the help an experienced, figuring out what representatives of the Diaspora could and are prescription levitra doing in order to achieve and erection than they have in the past. There are two maintypes of penis implant: viagra canada sales water and flexible. women viagra online A many healthcare providers around the world recommend these medicines every year.

Obviously, Ra’am opposes the Law, but is seeking at the same time to extract a myriad of concessions in order to support the law’s extension. Already the Coalition has agreed to these Ra’am demands:

*enable Palestinians who marry Israelis to have access to the Israeli medical care system

*enable Palestinians who marry Israelis to obtain driver’s licenses in Israel

*grant exemptions for couples who married prior to 1993

And on and on. To put it another way, the Coalition is slowly signing onto the Palestinianization of Israel.

The Jewish Agency adds a new voice . . .

In an attempt to be more inclusive in order to connect with university students in north America, the Jewish Agency has just named a non-Jew as its emissary in Washington.

Gadeer Kamal-Mreeh, a Druze woman with vast experience, will work with Jewish community centers, federations, and Hillel campus centers.

Kamal-Mreeh certainly has liberal campus and community terminology down pat; yesterday she commented that “In the name of pluralism and diversity, we will work to connect, bridge and emphasize what we have in common.”

Pluralism, diversity, inclusion: these are the watchwords of many American Jews today–Jews who rarely see Israel as a priority anymore and who are on the front lines criticizing our country.

We here at OneIsrael strongly applaud the selection of Kamal-Mreeh and wish her the best of luck–but still find it disquieting that an Israeli Jew is no longer suitable for the post she will hold.

A New Government, The Same Old Song

Under the watchful eye of the Civil Administration and Police, a bulldozer razes Oz Zion.

Under the watchful eye of the Civil Administration and Police, a bulldozer razes Oz Zion.

As regular readers of OneIsrael know, the Netanyahu era was marked by the continuing destruction of fledgling Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria. For all of Netanyahu’s bluster about supporting and protecting those communities, he did neither.

Enter Naftali Bennett who has also spent a lifetime verbally supporting Judean and Samarian communities with promises that if he ever became prime minister, that support would know no bounds.

Now that he is prime minister, it is bitterly ironic that one of his first steps this morning is to authorize Israel’s Civil Administration to demolish the Oz Zion community–a community which Palestinians tried to burn down several weeks ago.

Bezalel Smotrich was at Oz Zion this morning and had this to say:

“The government begins the destruction of the community. Jewish of course. Illegal Arab construction is raging in the Negev, in the Galilee, and in Judea and Samaria–and Bennett chooses to destroy the Jews.”

It’s the same old song.
