The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

6 Palestinian terrorists were shot and wounded in a firefight with IDF troops in Jenin.

Check out this 10 second video showing how Palestinians attacking IDF observation posts with Molotovs is “just part of daily” life in Shuafat.

The Gush Etzion-Hevron Road between Beit Habracha and Al Aruv was the scene of the worst “rock” and Molotov assault on Israeli motorists.

Not only are Palestinian terrorists launching explosive balloons to start fires along the Gaza border, but also Palestinian terrorists are carrying out a daily arson war in Judea, Samaria, and Benjamin.

A massive daily war.

From November of last year until April of this year, firefighters fought an average of 500 fires per month–a total of 6,072 fires.

Hardest hit has been the Benjamin area with 3,569 fires during this period, followed by Judea with 2,752, and Samaria with 2,632.

So this is the best the IDF can do? . . .

As you may remember, the city of Ashkelon was on the receiving end of more than 800 missiles from Palestinian terrorists in Gaza during the last mini-war.

Yesterday, the IDF made a “dramatic” announcement.

Ashkelon will now be divided in half with each half having its own warning siren for incoming missiles.

One would think that the IDF would be devoting its energies to stopping missiles from being fired. But no, the IDF focus is on telling which people to run when the missiles are on the way.

If this doesn’t make a statement about the sad situation of the IDF general command, your humble servant doesn’t know what does.

Bad news on the employment front . . .

Despite the fact that Israel was emerging from Corona restrictions in July, the unemployment rate has risen to 9% (nearly 400,000 people) according to the Central Bureau of Statistics.

This is especially interesting given the fact that unemployment benefits because of Corona were stopped last month.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Corona (Covid-19) Is Back With A Vengeance

Any way you look at the numbers below, the Covid-19 situation is beginning to spiral out of control. Newly verified cases per day has almost doubled in a week; severely and critically ill patients are steadily increasing; and between 5 and 10 Israelis are again dying per day.

3,818 were verified positive yesterday–a positive detection rate of 3.8%.

221 are in severe condition; 46 are in critical condition on ventilators.

6,492 Israelis have died.

There are still more than 1,000,000 Israelis who have not been vaccinated.

Thousands of Israelis are now in quarantine because of exposure to someone who has tested positive for Corona.

The Ministry of Health has just updated the list of red countries that Israelis will be forced to enter quarantine upon returning from:

Argentina, Belarus, Botswana, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Colombia, Cuba, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Fiji, France, Egypt, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Iceland,  Italy, Kyrgyzstan, Malawi,  Mongolia, Myanmar, Netherlands,  Russia, Rwanda, Scotland, South Africa, Spain, Swaziland, Tanzania,  Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, Uzbekistan, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Some of the above countries are already “no-fly” countries; it appears that we are rapidly approaching a closure of some sort at Ben Gurion.

It also appears that the efficacy figure for the Pfizer vaccine is continuing to drop which is one reason that many Israelis are leery of getting a third dose.

Worse than this is the general indifference to Corona of Israelis on the street–few of whom are wearing a mask.
