The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

On the Gaza border:

Just when it seemed that an Egyptian-mediated agreement for exchange of Palestinian terrorists and murders for Israeli soldiers’ body parts and two or three mentally challenged Israelis who went to Gaza on their own was about to take place, there was intense violence along the Gaza border yesterday.

Hundreds of rioters hurled Molotovs, grenades, and anything else they could find at IDF soldiers and Border Guard reinforcements along the wall. Our security forces responded with tear gas and rubber bullets.

As mentioned above, the worst terrorism occurred when a Hamas terrorist pointed a gun into a observation hole in the fence and fired–critically wounding Sgt. Shmueli:

The IDF finally responded (half-heartedly) to all of this violence by bombing 4 Hamas sites in Gaza–supposedly ones used for weapons storage, but perhaps just empty buildings as uisual. Also as usual, no terrorists were killed or wounded. Despite the shooting of our Border Guard and attacks on our soldiers, the Kerem Shalom Crossing from Israel into Gaza remained open for the delivery of “goods” this morning.

In Judea, Samaria, and Jerusalem:

Early this morning, an attack was thwarted at the Abu Dis Crossing when alert Border Guards spotted and shot a terrorist.

The weekend saw numerous “rock” and Molotov attacks on Israeli motorists in such locations as on the Alon Road, beside Marda, the Road 465 Bypass, Luban A-Sharqiya, and on the Gush Etzion-Hevron Road.

The daily Corona update . . .

The positive test rate was 5.44%.

988,010 Israelis have tested positive since the pandemic began last year.

In fact, the number of those who want to join a combat group is the largest in recent years according to Lt. Col. Gil Werner, commander of the Nahal Brigade’s training base.

Revital Barel: May Her Memory Always Be For A Blessing

Revital Barel.

Revital Barel.

Each time there is a missile attack on Israel from Hamas, Islamic Jihad, or Hezbollah, we at OneIsrael always ask you to remember the thousands of Israelis who must run to their bomb shelters or fortified places.

In every attack, people fall down while running, suffer from severe trauma, or sustain other grievous injury. Most of these injuries are among the elderly, but not always.

Such was the case this past May when Hamas and Islamic Jihad fired missiles toward Haifa. Revital Barel, a 44-year-old resident of Kiryat Motzkin, suffered a heart attack and had to be rushed to Rambam Hospital.

She never recovered. After three months in intensive care, she died several days ago–a death that was completely ignored by the mainstream media here.

She is survived by her three children aged 11, 15 and 18, and her husband Shimon who is a career IDF soldier.

We should never forget the victims of terror like Revital whose physical injuries may cause death long after the event, and those who may suffer PTSD for the rest of their lives.

Revital Barel (1977-2021)

May her memory always be for a blessing.
