The “Israel Throws In The Towel” Quote of the Day

“Israel will agree to the U.S. resuming negotiations with Iran on the nuclear deal.”

“Defense” Minister Benny Gantz in an interview published in Foreign Policy Magazine

Well there you have it. As expected, our Coalition government policy is that Israel will now kowtow to the Biden Administration’s full-blown attempt to revive the Iranian Nuclear Weapons Appeasement Deal.

This is the scene this morning at Corona testing centers all over Israel on the day after Yom Kippur:

What looks like a traffic jam is actually a line of cars waiting to get to the Corona testing spot at Sami Ofer Center in Haifa.

The average wait time at these locations is about 4 hours.

The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

In Judea and Samaria:

The following are a few of the locations where Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis: Migdal Oz, Beit Anun Square, between Kedumim and Ponduk on Road 55, the Beit Huwara Junction, Al Khader, Al Aruv, Road 446 near the Ofarim Junction, Aqraba, Beit Furik, Lupine’aya, and Beit El.

Two IDF soldiers were wounded in Azzun overnight when hit by concrete bricks and are hospitalized.

Palestinian terrorists opened fire on IDF soldiers at the Gilboa Crossing. Fortunately, no Israelis were wounded.

Click here for a 5 second video of terrorists in a white car shooting at an IDF vehicle in Jenin. Note the machine gun sticking out the back window of the car as it speeds away.

On the Gaza border:

Some fake news: in an apparent move to assuage the Egyptians, Hamas carried out faux arrests of 13 members of Islamic Jihad’s Saraya Al Quds’ missile unit last night. Most of the “arrests” occurred in northern Gaza where last week’s missile fire against southern Israel came from.

That missile fire infuriated Egyptian President Sisi because of his attempts to mediate a peace between Israel and Hamas.

In any case, we all know that no missile is fired out of Gaza without Hamas’ approval, and that anyone “arrested” will be released tomorrow.

(Please note that the numbers below are a mix of Wednesday evening-Friday morning statistics because no testing or evaluations were made yesterday on Yom Kippur.)

8,601 more Israelis were confirmed “yesterday” as having Covid-19. There are now 83,704 active cases in the country.

1,208,403 Israelis have contracted Corona since the pandemic began.

The positive test rate yesterday was 5.93%.

654 Israelis are in serious condition with another 186 in critical condition on ventilators.

7,465 Israelis have died–an increase of 27 since Wednesday.

Vaccinations:

6,056,354 Israelis have received 1 dose.

5,566,408 Israelis have received 2 doses.

2,984,863 Israelis have received 3 doses.

Sheba Hospital researchers say that one week after receiving the 3rd dose of Corona vaccine, a person will have 10 times the number of antibodies than he or she had one week after receiving the second dose.  Your humble servant is not sure whether this finding is more about the efficacy of the 3rd dose or the lack of efficacy of the 2nd.

The tourist doors open wide for the vaccinated . . .

As you may not know, before now Israel has not recognized vaccinations received in other countries. For example, when your humble servant entered Israel in May of this year after having been vaccinated in the U.S., I had to go into quarantine until I received a serological test proving the existence of antibodies. My U.S. vaccination card was not even looked at much less accepted.

On Wednesday, Israel signed an agreement with the European Union for mutual recognition of vaccinations which opens wide the movement of vaccinated tourists.

This agreement comes on the heels of a reported agreement between Israel and the U.S. for similar recognition.

TODAY’S BLOG:

The IDF’s Bellicose “Ready To Enter” Bluster

Hmm. Let’s try and understand this . . .

Now that there seems to be definite reason to believe that the two remaining escapees from Gilboa Prison are hiding out in Jenin, we had IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi blustering today that the IDF is “ready to enter” Jenin to root them out should the need arise. Kochavi went on to say “There is the possibility, and the plans for it [entering Jenin] also exist.”

Really? Is there anyone who really believes that the IDF is going to enter the hotbed of Islamic Jihad terrorism that is Jenin in search of the two escapees? Of course not.

But Kochavi’s bluster is the same bluster we have heard a million times in southern Israel. Every time that there is an outbreak of missile fire from Gaza, Kochavi (or whoever happens to be IDF Chief of Staff at the time or the Prime Minister or the Defense Minister) bellicosely intones “the IDF is ready to enter Gaza.”

Really? Is there anyone who really believes that the IDF is ready to enter Gaza? Of course not.

Two weeks ago, we even had “Defense Minister” Gantz describing that the IDF is ready to confront Iran over its nuclear weapons program, and saying that “I just may turn out to be the Defense Minister who orders an attack on Iran.”

Really? Is there anyone who really believes that the IDF or Gantz is ready to attack Iran? Of course not.

Unfortunately, the bellicose bluster of our military and political leaders has become like that emanating from the tinpot military leaders and despots of third-rate Arab countries.
