Photos of the Morning

After four months of training, 400 IDF recruits into the Armored Corp completed their final task before receiving their black berets: a grueling 20 km hike carrying a fellow recruit to the edge of the Ramon Crater:

The final steps of the march.

The final steps of the march.

Carrying a comrade (rotated during the march):

Nothing but joy after an exhausting trek.

Nothing but joy after an exhausting trek.

And more joy upon receiving the black beret:

Absolute exhilaration and pride!

Absolute exhilaration and pride!

OneIsrael applauds these soldiers for their achievement! Kolakevod!!

Quote of the Day

“This is a shameful and sad day for the State of Israel. The new budget works against people and wreaks havoc on the Jewish character of the country. Shas will continue to fight with all its might to overthrow this evil government.”

Statement of the orthodox Sephardic Party Shas Party following the passage of the 2022 budget in the Knesset last night by a vote of 59-56.

Shas is part of the political opposition and is suffering the consequences of having the vehemently anti-orthodox Avigdor Liberman as the Minister of Finance. In the new budget, both Shas and United Torah Judaism (the Ashkenazi orthodox Party) are having their budgets severely slashed particularly in regard to the yeshivas they operate where Torah is studied.

These budget reductions coupled with decreased daycare subsidies and the new Plastic Law which just went into effect have hit the orthodox communities like a lightning bolt.

The News On The Israeli Street

Clashes in Jerusalem . . .

It has been a night and a day of protests in Jerusalem.

**Last night, there was a peaceful demonstration at the “Strings Bridge” at the entrance to Jerusalem where a few dozen protesters were demanding an internal investigation into the death (aka murder) of Ahuvia Sandak in December of last year.

As you may recall, the 16-year-old Sandak was killed when the car he was riding in was intentionally hit from behind by a police car causing the car to roll over resulting in his death. Click here for a previous OneIsrael blog on his murder.

Last night’s protest was peaceful until the police arrived with a water cannon and batons and starting spraying and beating the protesters.

**Today, there have been protests at the Kotel by orthodox men against Women of the Wall (Reform Jewish women) who are attempting to pray there.

Click here to watch the police trying to restrain the men.

TODAY’S BLOG

Iran’s Nuclear “Game” With The West Begins Again

We have long argued here at OneIsrael that Iran has already enriched enough uranium to produce at least a rudimentary nuclear bomb. And at the risk of stating the obvious, a rudimentary nuclear bomb dropped on Tel Aviv would spell disaster for Israel.

All along the way of the farcical JCPOA nuclear negotiations since 2015, the Iranians have played cat and mouse with the West which established early on that it would do virtually anything to appease the Iranians.

Sometimes, the Iranians would let IAEA inspectors come into the country to inspect its nuclear facilities, and sometimes they would not. Sometimes inspectors would report that Iran was living up to its end of the bargain, and other times they would not.

Nothing deterred the West from continuing to play the nuclear game with Iran, and all the while that this game was going on, the Iranians were continuing to amass uranium and centrifuges.

All of which brings us to the last two days.

Two days ago we had Tehran announcing that it would be willing to resume nuclear talks at the end of this month.

Yesterday, we had Tehran announcing that they have already enriched 25 kilograms of uranium to 60%.

There is no reason to doubt that the Iranians already have the 25 kg of enriched uranium but every reason to doubt that is all they have. Who knows how many kilograms of 60% or more enriched uranium the Iranians have produced in hardened bunkers deep underground in Iran?

Again, your humble servant fervently believes that the Iranians have enough enriched uranium to produce a nuclear bomb and probably already have.

By the way, the announcement about the 25 kg of 60% uranium was quickly followed by a statement from Iranian Atomic Energy Spokesman Horiz Kamelbandi who gushed that “no country can enrich uranium to 60% except those that have nuclear weapons.”

How would you interpret that dear reader? Just Iranian bravado? Or does it describe reality?

After all of this yesterday, then the Iranians issued yet another announcement, this time declaring that they have enriched another 210 kg of uranium to 20% (by the way, the previous agreement with Iran allowed the ayatollahs to keep 120 kg of uranium enriched to 20%).

In sum, where does all of this leave us? We have the Western powers rushing to appease Iran once again, and the Iranians playing those Western powers for fools that they are.

Meanwhile, we grow ever closer to Iran’s expressed goal: a nuclear attack on Israel.

On that unhappy note:

We wish you a Shabbat Shalom from Israel!
