The Photo of the Evening

The Food Item(s) of the Day

Since we had so many comments about the souvganiot we posted pictures of during Chanukah, we here at OneIsrael we have decided to continue to indulge our sweet tooth. Here are two photos your humble servant took yesterday:

If you wonder what you are looking at, they are squares of baklava with green crumbled pistachio nuts between the rows.

And . . .

More baklava wrapped in with nuts on top. Yum!

More delicious baklava wrapped in knafeh noodles with nuts on top. Yum!

The Hilarious Quote of the Day

”The law of Beersheva and Rahat is the law of Tel Aviv. What must not be done in the center of the country must not be done here either.”

PM Naftali Bennett speaking in Beersheva yesterday about the crime wave that is afflicting Beersheva and the surrounding area of southern Israel

If Bennett’s words sound familiar they should. They are the same absurd ones that our politicians like to blather every time southern Israel is hit by missiles. The IDF will never mount a major response unless one or two missiles are fired at Tel Aviv.

Put simply, there is one law for Tel Aviv and another for the citizens of southern Israel.

And everybody knows it.

The News on the Israeli Street

The Netanyahu trial takes another bizarre turn . . .

. . . with another accusation leveled at former PM Netanyahu by the star prosecution witness Nir Hefetz.

This time the continuously inconsistent Hefetz said that the reason he stopped being Netanyahu’s advisor back in 2017-8 was because Netanyahu was unfit to decide “security issues”.

What a joke.

Try to wrap your mind around Hefetz’s version of events.

You may remember that following a horrendous attack on the Temple Mount, PM Netanyahu decided to install weapon-detecting magnetometers at the Muslim Arab gates to the Mount.

According to Hefetz, Netanyahu overrode the objections from Israel’s security services and instead bowed to the wishes of his wife Sara and son Yair. This, Hefetz testified, proved that Netanyahu was unfit to be prime minister.

In the first place, Hefetz’s testimony is extremely suspect. As he admitted later on the witness stand, he was not privy to any security discussions about the magnetometers.

But in the second place, it was a decision that should have always been in place. After all, why are Jews, Christians, and other non-Muslim visitors discriminated against by having to pass through magnetometers before they go to the Mount–but not Muslim Arabs?

Two observations from your humble servant: if Sara and Yair insisted on the magnetometers, they should be loudly praised; moreover, the unfortunate decision Netanyahu made was not to place the magnetometers there but to remove them because of the outcry from the Muslim world.

Children returned to school today . . .

The Chanukah holiday came to an end today with Israeli children flocking back to school.

However, they did so with a twist. Every student had produce the result of an antigen test taken in the last 24 hours at their home. The tests are being provided free of charge by the government.
