The daily Corona update . . .
The numbers are extraordinary.
65,259 Israelis were diagnosed with Corona yesterday, following 62,210 on Sunday.
746 Israelis are hospitalized. 498 hospitalized in critical condition: 100 are on ventilators, and 13 are on ECMO machines.
8,129 doctors and medical staff have been verified with Corona.
8,340 have died.
As we previously reported, the government has thrown in the towel. Essential workers (such as doctors and staff) with Corona can now come to work as long as they remain isolated from others and are asymptomatic. Schoolchildren no longer have to be in isolation if they have been exposed to Corona if they are exhibiting no symptoms.
The United States has just issued a warning against traveling to Israel because of the spread of Corona.

“Earth Poetica”
Israeli artist Beverly Barkat is making major waves in the art world with her new creation “Earth Poetica” which will be placed at the World Trade Center, Ground Zero in New York.
Remarkably, the earth-shaped, 4 meters in diameter orb is made using fishing nets, plastic bottles, plastic food containers and all other types of garbage that Barkat found on beaches around the world.
Described by the New York Times as a “glittering jewel”, the work of art underscores Barkat’s message that she expressed as: “I watched children search for reality on a plastic-washed beach, a beach that used to be beautiful. The picture stayed with me. We are suffocating the Earth.”

We here at OneIsrael applaud Barkat for her vision and her artwork. More than this, we all know that garbage is choking the seas of the world and therefore life on Earth–and hope that art can play a role in reversing what is taking place.
A student from Malawi, who had worked with an Israeli health volunteer in his country battling AIDS, came up to us as we walked down the street in the UC-Davis Picnic Day Parade and wanted to carry the Israeli flag.
