The Tweet of the Day

Володимир Зеленський

@ZelenskyyUa
To the world: what is the point of saying «never again» for 80 years, if the world stays silent when a bomb drops on the same site of Babi Yar? At least 5 killed. History repeating…

8:31 AM · Mar 1, 2022

As you can see, this tweet from Ukrainian President Zelenskyy came this morning, following the Russian bombing at the cemetery site within the infamous Babi Yar memorial in Kyiv where Nazis massacred 33,771 Jews on September 29-30 1941.

Your humble servant leaves it to you, dear reader, to draw your own conclusions.

The News on the Israeli Street

The daily Corona update . . .

8,380 new cases of Corona were confirmed yesterday bringing to 73,146 the total number of Israelis with an active case of Covid-19.

The positive test rate was 12.19%.

574 Israelis are in serious condition in hospitals with another 253 in critical condition on ventilators.

10,218 Israelis have died of Corona since the pandemic began–an increase of 29 since yesterday.

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

A Palestinian terrorist was eliminated today near Migdal Oz when he opened fire on IDF soldiers.

Palestinian terrorists attacked Israeli buses with Molotovs and “rocks” at Singil, Beit Ummar, Givat Assaf, Psagot, Migdalot, and other places.

Palestinian terrorists attacked Israeli motorists near Tekoa, the Oranit Junction, and near HaOfakim.

Palestinian terrorists opened fire on an IDF post near Al Aruv on the Gush Etzion-Hevron Road.

Another ruling concerning Sheikh Jarrar . . .

The Israel Supreme Court ruled today that the Palestinian squatter families in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of eastern Jerusalem can remain there if they pay the ridiculously low rent of 200 shekels ($62) per month.

Shaked keeps her promise . . .

Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked has kept her word: the number of Palestinian “family reunification” permits being approved has precipitously dropped. Out of 2700 applications Shaked has received in recent months, she has only approved 70.

TODAY’S BLOG

The Same Old Song

Our so-called “Defense” Minister Benny Gantz took a tour of the troops along the Gaza border today along with the head of the Gaza Division Gen Nimrod Aloni, and the head of the COGAT Unit Gen. Rassan Aliyan.

One would have thought that Gantz would have been focused on our soldiers–both in terms of boosting their morale and increasing their ability to thwart terrorists trying to infiltrate Israel.

But no.

Gantz’s thoughts–as in 2014–were on how peace is on the horizon like the fields of flowers in the South that are ready to bloom in the Spring:

“We have created a new equation of deterrence . . . we are creating a civilian equation–directly with the residents of Gaza. We intend to expand humanitarian civilian policy, including an immediate increase of 10,000 Gazans receiving Israeli work permits. If along with maintaining peace, we also advance on the path of returning Israeli prisoners and missing persons, we will be able to expand this policy and develop Gaza. Gaza residents are captives of Hamas leaders who deprive them of a better livelihood and future for their children.”

Your humble servant does not know whether to laugh or cry.

The idea that Israel is somehow making the residents of Gaza love us by handing out ever more work permits is patently absurd. Just a few weeks ago, we learned that one Hamasnik who received a humanitarian medical approval to enter Israel spent all of this time recruiting for Hamas and spying on Israeli defense installations.

If the Gazans maintain peace?

This is always the delusional dream of leftist Israelis until it is shattered by missiles being fired at our men, women and children.

If Hamas returns missing persons and prisoners?

This is a sad joke–our soldiers’ body parts have been held since 2014.

Gaza residents are captives of Hamas?

The residents of Gaza are the ones who elected Hamas in the first place.

Hamas leaders deprive Gazans of a better livelihood and future for their children?

Leftists always paternalistically absolve the infantile Palestinians in Gaza of any responsibility by saying that they are captives to Hamas.

Gantz’s song is the same old song that he loves to sing.
