The News on the Israeli Street

Three more signs that Israel is falling apart . . .

**The law to revoke the citizenship of those who commit acts of terror has been withdrawn from consideration in the Knesset. Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked commented that the Ministry of Justice had informed her that the law in its current wording would be rejected by the Israel Supreme Court.

**An Israeli-Arab terrorist who was wounded in the firefight in Jenin that resulted in the death of St. Sgt Noam Raz is now being treated at Israeli taxpayer expense at Rambam Hospital in Haifa.

**A secret deal between PM Naftali Bennett and the Islamist Ra’am Party was revealed today. In return for staying in the Coalition and keeping Bennett in power, the government has agreed to eliminate most restrictions on illegal Bedouin settlements in the Negev.

About those housing prices . . .

We mentioned in this blog yesterday how housing prices are out of control in Israel. According to statistics released today, housing prices have risen by 16.3% so far this year.

Corona restrictions further loosened . . .

10,805 Israelis have now died of Corona.

4,110 tested positive yesterday–with a positive test rate 4.72%.

Despite the continued presence of Corona, the Ministry of Health announced today: “As of Saturday, the obligation to perform a PCR test on Israelis and foreigners entering Israel will be abolished. In addition, foreigners will not be required to undergo a PCR test or antigen before boarding flights to Israel.”

Why?

The funeral procession on the Temple Mount this evening (phot Mahmoud Illean AP).

It has been another violent day in Jerusalem, centered around the violent funeral of a terrorist on the Temple Mount, which led to riots in eastern Jerusalem, and an attempted bulldozer attack on security personnel in A-Tor.

The obvious question that should be asked is “Why?”

After everything that happened on the Temple Mount during Ramadan, why in the world did the government agree to let an inflammatory funeral take place there today?

Even more, why would the government allow such a funeral when the funeral itself was for a terrorist who was killed on the Mount while attacking our soldiers and police?

There are no answers to these questions–and no logic to what the current government does as it presides over the piece by piece destruction of Israel and elimination of Israeli sovereignty in Jerusalem.
