Photo of the Day

A photo that I took of the airline tracker about 20 minutes before our arrival in Tel Aviv (the dot at the bottom of the photo).

A photo that I took of the airline tracker about 20 minutes before our arrival in Tel Aviv last night (TLV is the dot at the bottom of the photo).

Your humble servant arrived in Israel last night. I am always struck as we near Israel just how near we are to Syria (Latakia, Aleppo, Homs, Damascus), Lebanon (Beirut), Jordan (Irbid, Zarqa). One mistaken turn by the pilot, and . . .

What you cannot see is that when our plane crossed the Israeli coast, we then continued over Samaria for nearly ten minutes nearly reaching the municipal Jerusalem limits and just passing by Shechem (Nablus) before turning back toward the Mediterranean and landing at Ben Gurion Airport.

The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

A huge explosion of Palestinian terror:

The aftermath of the horrific "rock" attack at Misr e-Sharqiya that sent several wounded Israelis to the hospital. Note the "rock" still embedded in the windshield.

Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis with “rocks” and Molotovs at Ofra, west of the Postal Junction, between Revava and the Yakir Junction, Luban A-Sharqiya,  the Ma’ale Levona Junction, Tekoa, Nahal Kana, Jaba Tzurif, Mizra e-Sharqiya,  at the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hevron, near Jenin, Brookin, Gilad Farm, Singil, Givat Assaf, Deir Dewan, Huwara, between Hizma and Adam, the Tapuach Junction, Shavei Shomron and at numerous other locations.

Nine Israelis were wounded in the above attacks (5 in Huwara with head wounds), 3 at the Ma’ale Levona Junction, and 1 near Mizra e-Sharqiya).

TODAY’S BLOG

CNN’s Outrageous Hit Piece On The IDF Today

One of the headlines on CNN online today:

“New evidence suggests Shireen Abu Akleh was killed in targeted attack by Israeli forces”

The subheadline:

‘They were shooting directly at the journalists’: New evidence suggests Shireen Abu Akleh was killed in targeted attack by Israeli forces”

The article began (emphasis mine):

“Several shots ring out in quick succession, cutting through a clear, blue spring morning in Jenin, in the West Bank. Crack, crack, crack, crack, crack, crack, crack.

You may gather from this first sentence just how biased the CNN story is. Why was Al-Jazeera reporter Abu Akleh in Jenin in the first place? She was there because of the continuing firefights between Palestinian terrorists in the city and the IDF.

Clear blue spring morning? Whatever atmospheric clarity was in Jenin that morning was being punctuated by intense gunfire.

The CNN article goes on to reference the original video as proving that the IDF “targeted” Abu Akleh. However, it reveals nothing about who shot Abu Akleh. It merely contains the sound of the gunfire Aby Akleh’s cameraman running toward her only to find that she is face down having been shot. Again, there is no indication of who shot her.

The article then continues to say that CNN has seen “other videos” produced by Palestinians which lend credence to the allegation that the gunfire came from IDF soldiers some 200 meters away. None of these other videos are linked to in the article.

The article also references friends and colleagues of Abu Akleh–all of whom unsurprisingly accuse Israel.

No effort was apparently made to interview IDF personnel.

It must be pointed out that the IDF has been engaged in an intensive investigation into what happened and thus far states that “it is not possible to determine the source of the shooting that hit and killed the reporter. The claim that the shooting is intentional is devoid of any basis.”

So who shot Abu Akleh?

We will never know. Israel has unsuccessfully pleaded with the PLO to join the IDF and American representatives in an analysis of the bullet that killed her–a bullet that is in the possession of the PLO.

Not only will the PLO not agree to a joint investigation of the ballistics, but also the PLO will not even release its own findings.

Of course, none of this was reported by CNN which only had one purpose in mind–to smear Israel and the IDF.
