The meteorological services are warning that beginning today and continuing through the week an extraordinary heat wave will compound the already hot weather in Israel. Temperatures will be well over 100 F in many locations.

The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

Palestinian terrorists opened fire on a community patrol vehicle at Shavei Shomron. The car was riddled with bullets, but miraculously no Israelis were wounded. The terrorists escaped.

Palestinian terrorists in Jenin opened fire on an IDF patrol early this morning; 4 terrorists were wounded in the firefight.

A Palestinian terrorist attempted to carry out a stabbing attack at the Rihan Crossing near Jenin, but was subdued by security personnel.

A Palestinian sniper firing from Kalandiya shot a 7-year-old girl in Kochav Ya’akov who was playing in her yard. This morning she is in fair condition described as “conscious with a penetrating injury to her abdomen” in Hadassah Hospital. Always loathe to call attacks like this “terror”, the police and IDF are ludicrously describing the attack as: “a stray bullet hit a young girl in Kochav Ya’akov.”

Palestinian terrorists working with a Jordanian smuggler attempted to bring more weapons across the border last night. The entire terror cell was captured by the IDF. Here are some of the guns that were seized:

Palestinian terrorists were also busy trying to smuggle more weapons and ammunition at another checkpoint last night. IDF troops confiscated 9,000 5.56 caliber bullets and assemblies for numerous M16 rifles:

A bizarre attempt to provoke an attack near Shiloh . . .

Try to wrap your mind around this dear reader.

A group of community members were walking yesterday near Amichai when they saw a group of eight “Arabs” acting strangely beside a white minibus. According to one of the members, “They shouted, threw objects and lit fires in several locations. It seemed that they were trying in every way to attract attention. We suspected that this was a police ambush.”

A police ambush?

Yes, it turned out that the “Arabs” were undercover Israeli police who were apparently trying to provoke a violent reaction from the Israelis.

This is just another tactic that “Defense” Minister Benny Gantz and his cohorts in the Civil Administration are doing to demean Jewish community members and to justify their destruction of young Jewish communities.

More about the massive attack in Syria two nights ago . . .

The same satellite photo we showed yesterday. The black areas are the areas destroyed in the Israeli attack two nights ago.

The same satellite photo we showed yesterday. The black areas are the areas destroyed in the Israeli attack two nights ago.

According to the latest reports, more than 1000 precision missiles were destroyed along with facilities for development and production–some of which were underground.

After the attack, the explosions continued for six hours.

As an important aside, the Russians are busy moving their S-300 anti-aircraft systems out of Syria and secreting them on cargo ships through the Bosporus to Ukraine.

No end to the teachers’ strike, and . . .

Opposing forces: Yaffa Ben David of the Teachers' Union, and Avigdor Liberman Minister of Finance.

Not only is there no end in sight for the teachers’ strike (despite a court order mandating the start of school on September 1), but also interns, nurses, and doctors are now threatening to strike because of excessive working hours and low pay.

TODAY’S BLOG

Lapid’s Embarrassing Follies

The whole situation has become downright unseemly.

For the past week, we have had the spectacle of the prime minister of Israel, Yair Lapid, desperately groveling to have a telephone conversation with President Joe Biden to discuss the Iran deal the U.S. is about to sign.

He is groveling because Biden has steadfastly refused to take his call. At first, the White House claimed that Biden was on vacation, but then when it became apparent that he wasn’t, the White House ceased offering any excuses at all.

But this hasn’t stopped Lapid. Even the Jerusalem Post main headline today reads: “Lapid angling for Biden call, meeting amid Iran concerns”.

Angling for Biden call? More like beseeching, pleading, begging–and looking ever more like a second rate fool each time he does.

Now that a telephone conversation is out of the question, Lapid wants to have a meeting with Biden at the United Nations on September 20 after Biden speaks to the General Assembly–one of those “15-30 minute meetings on the sidelines.”

However, the White House has already put out the word that the meeting may not be possible because of Biden’s “tight schedule.”

Perhaps this is a moment to remember the events of last month when our Lapid-led government went to extraordinary lengths to kowtow to Biden during his short visit to Israel. Every possible concession was handed to Biden and the Palestinians on a silver platter in honor of the visit.

Only to have Biden slap us in the face during his visit to the Augusta Victoria Hospital in eastern Jerusalem.

And slap Lapid in the face now.

The sad fact is that everything this government does is tied inextricably to Washington. We have long since lost any strategic independence.

Just yesterday, Lapid called Mossad Chief David Barnea on the carpet for stating the obvious truth that all the claims that the Biden Administration are making about the Iran Agreement “are a lie.” According to Lapid, Barnea’s statement is not something we can say about the Biden Administration.

Lapid’s follies are beyond pathetic.
