Special Notice

As regular readers of OneIsrael have undoubtedly surmised by now, your humble servant is on the road again.  Today’s 3-1 blog covers the period from Wednesday to Friday, our next blog will appear at the end of our sojourn on April 24–as Yom Hazikaron begins.

We appreciate your indulgence and understanding.

The News on the Israeli Street

Tragic “numbers” . . .

In advance of Yom Hazikaron, the IDF announced yesterday that 24,213 soldiers have fallen since 1860 (the first time Jews tried to move out of enclosed communities near Jerusalem). In the last year, 59 soldiers died in various venues, and another 86 soldiers who were “disabled” in previous conflicts passed away.

In addition to the soldiers, 4,255 civilians have been murdered since 1851 including 31 in the last year, most recently the mother and daughters of the Dee family.

The war in Judea and Samaria . . .

Hardly a night goes by that a Palestinian terrorist does not try to infiltrate a Jewish community. This terrorist got hung up two nights ago in the barbed wire perimeter protecting Kiryat Arba.

Shooting attack:

The most egregious attack occurred when Palestinian terrorists opened fire on a bus between Migdalim and Tapuach. The bus driver was wounded, and the terrorist(s) escaped.

IED, Molotov, and “rock” attacks:

There are few places on roads in Judea and Samaria that have not been the locations of attacks in the last 72 hours. From Road 443 near Beit Ur-al Thatta to numerous sites on the Gush Etzion-Hevron Road, Palestinian terrorists have been busily trying to murder Israelis.

In Jerusalem.

Palestinian terrorists opened fire in the Abu Tor neighborhood; no Israelis were wounded, and the terrorist was captured.

The Palestinian terrorist who carried out the shooting attack three days ago in Jerusalem was captured in Shechem yesterday. How did he get from Shechem to Jerusalem and back? Simple, the lax Israeli restrictions on Palestinian movement during Ramadan. Fortunately the Israeli whom he shot in the chest is improving and now breathing on his own.

TODAY’S BLOG

Nothing Is Sacred Anymore

The last few days have seen an absurd series of declarations by the leaders of the anti-government movement in which they have asserted that they refuse to attend our national Yom Hazikaron and Yom HaAtzmaut celebrations.

Yair Lapid in particular has been adamant in childishly ranting “there is no chair for me at the events.” He has been joined by other former coalition members who have announced that they will hold “alternative” events.

The attempt to further divide the Israeli public is nothing short of pathetic.

On that unhappy note, from somewhere in the Pacific Ocean, we wish you:

Shabbat Shalom!
