UPDATES: 7:00 pm Israel time

–>Palestinian terror today.

What do these places in Israel have in common? Beit Anun, Neve Tzuf, Horon, Hebron, Rachel’s Tomb, A-Ram, Mt. Hebron, Umm Salmona, Jiftlik, Road 443, Adora, and Kiryat Arba.

These are all places where Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis today with “rocks” and Molotovs.

An armed Palestinian terrorist was shot as he climbed over the security fence at Psagot in an attempt to infiltrate and attack men, women, and children in the community.

–>The Israel Supreme Court continues its amazing record of bias.

The Israel Supreme Court has rarely met a Jewish community in Judea and Samaria that it likes. Time and time again, it orders the demolition of legal apartments, houses, schools, and even synagogues belonging to Jewish community members.

On the other hand, the Court bends over backward and twists the law to stop the demolition of illegal Palestinian structures. This morning, the Court issued a temporary injunction to halt authorized demolitions in the southern Hebron Hills until more hearings can take place next week.

The good news is that 17 illegal Palestinian structures were destroyed before the injunction was issued.

–>Former PM Ehud Olmert admits obstruction of justice.

Faced with a lengthy prison sentence (in addition to his sentence in the Holyland case), Olmert agreed to a plea deal yesterday in which he admitted obstruction of justice in exchange for a six month sentence and a 50,000 shekel fine.

On February 10, we will find out if the Court accepts the deal.

–>Israelis are more hooked to the internet than ever.

We all know that Israel is a country that loves to be on the cutting edge of technology and usually is–because it develops much of that technology. Israelis are on their computers or cellphones all of the time.

According to a survey released last week, 91% of Israeli adults purchased products online in the past year. And despite what you may think, such purchases were not the exclusive province of young people.

85% of those 65 years of age and older also purchased products online.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Another day, another breathtakingly revealing interview with “Defense” Minister Moshe Ya’alon.

In this particular interview, Ya’alon was defending himself on Israeli radio from those who rightly accuse him of being an enemy of Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria. In particular, he was defending himself regarding his order to demolish a synagogue in Givat Ze’ev and evict Jewish homeowners from two buildings in Hebron.

Let’s let Ya’alon absurdly speak for himself with a few interpolations by your humble servant:

The cause and the age may be anything of misuse of that organ, aging dysfunctions, and the problem occurred purchase of viagra in the reproductive system. “Nobody would ever be able to claim that I am the enemy of settlement in Judea and Samaria.”

Sometimes, one has to wonder what kind of bubble Israelis leaders like Netanyahu and Ya’alon live in. Do they really think like the Palestinians that if they repeat some ridiculous statement enough times that it will become true? Apparently so.

Virtually everyone who lives in Judea and Samaria looks at Ya’alon as one who adamantly opposes Jewish communities. And not because of what he says, but because of what he does.

“There are those who come and say “what is the difference between the Jews buying houses in Hebron and Jews buying houses on Dizengoff Street in Tel Aviv?” The differences are security and political considerations. You cannot surprise PM Netanyahu with moving into houses in Hebron while he is in Davos [Switzerland].

Of course, there is no difference between buying a house in Hebron and buying one in Tel Aviv. The only difference is the minds of our elected and appointed officials. Jewish residents of Hebron need extra security just like the Jewish residents of Jerusalem, but a Jew buying an apartment is a Jew buying an apartment.

But note the second part of Ya’alon’s statement. It wreaks of political correctness and the cravenness of our leaders. Heaven forbid that Netanyahu would have to defend a legal purchase by Jews of a building in Hebron while he is meeting with world leaders in Davos–world leaders who would like nothing more than to see Israel delegitimized and turned over to Palestinians.

“This short way of invading the homes in Hebron could be disastrous. If you are confident in your way and the deal is legitimate, then wait.”

And wait, and wait, and wait, and wait, and wait.

In the case of the people in Hebron, they have been waiting for half a decade. There is a limit to anyone’s patience. But there is no limit to Ya’alon’s dissembling.
