Rabbi Yechiel Rothman. May his memory be forever blessed.

Rabbi Chaim Yechiel Rothman died yesterday. Rothman was one of the five rabbis who were attacked by Palestinian terrorists at the Har Nof synagogue in November of last year.

In that attack, Rothman attempted to fight off the terrorists, but one of the terrorists chopped open Rothman’s head with a meat cleaver. Unfortunately, Rothmann never regained consciousness and spent the last 12 months of his life at Hadassah hospital.

He was the 6th victim of that terrorist attack to die: the 5 rabbis and the Druze security officer.

He leaves behind a wife and eleven children.

TODAY’S BLOG:

The great Israeli concession game began in earnest yesterday with the arrival of John “What Can I Get Out Of Netanyahu This Time” Kerry.

Let’s see . . . in the first 24 hours alone:

1. Netanyahu agreed to King Abdullah’s demand to install cameras all over the Temple Mount. On the face of things, this seems like a great idea, but the devil is in the details. Who is going to monitor the cameras? What happens when Muslim terrorists throw rocks at Israeli police or spit on Jewish visitors? I believe we can all be sure that nothing will happen.

By the way, what is the irony about King Abdullah’s “demand”? According to Agence Press France, it was Abdullah who “demanded” that Israel remove the cameras in 2013.

2. Netanyahu agreed to forever prohibit Jewish prayer on the Temple Mount. He affirmed that the Temple Mount is exclusively a prayer-place for Muslims. What does this mean? Jews will not be able to carry a Torah, bow to the Foundation Stone which held the Ark of the Covenant, wear a prayer shawl, or do anything else that identifies them as Jews. It is an agreement to the rankest form of religious discrimination and a gross violation of the Israel Law of Religious Freedom.

3. Netanyahu agreed to freeze construction in eastern Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria. Oh sure, this morning Netanyahu is back-pedaling as hard as he can claiming that he is “under no obligation” to freeze construction, but you can be sure he did. As noted yesterday, construction has been virtually frozen for six years. Just a few days ago on the Gaza border, Netanyahu crowed proudly that there have been fewer housing starts in Judea and Samaria during his term in office than during those of Ehud Olmert and Ehud Barak.

4. Netanyahu agreed to freeze the “Israel National Law” that was due to be voted on this session by the Knesset. You may remember that this law was going to enshrine into Israel Basic Law that “Israel is the national homeland of the Jews” and was going to enshrine Israeli symbols such as the flag and Hatikvah. All of this has now been frozen and put off indefinitely.

A rational person like you, dear reader, might well ask: “What did Netanyahu–the supreme negotiator–get in return for these concessions?”

And the answer is, as usual: “Absolutely nothing.”

But wait, this was just the first 24 hours. What will Netanyahu give away today?
