UPDATES 5 pm Israel time:

***Palestinian terror in the last 72 hours.

The rash of terror attacks in Judea, Samaria, and eastern Jerusalem has continued unabated.

On Friday, there were more than 40 terrorist assaults, the most egregious of which were the stabbing of a security guard at the mall in Ma’ale Adumim at 1:45 pm (the guard remains in critical condition) and the attempted stabbing of an Israeli soldier at a checkpoint in Samaria at 4:44 pm (the soldier was not wounded).

In the Ma’ale Adumim attack, security guard Zvika Cohen was axed in the head by a Palestinian who worked at the mall. The terrorist was later captured after being turned in by one of his relatives.

Saturday saw another 30 terror attacks. A policeman was wounded by Palestinians at Issawiya; homes in the Beit El area were riddled by bullets fired by terrorists in Jalazun; and at 10:30 pm, terrorists threw IEDs at an IDF patrol in Beit Ummar.

Thus far today there have been “rock” attacks at such places as Azzun, Al-Hader, Yabad, Efrat, Sussiya, and Ofra.  Molotovs have exploded on and around Israeli vehicles at Nili, and on Route 60 near Burqa.

***New statistics have just been published about European Union attempts to establish a Palestinian presence on the ground in Area C of Judea and Samaria.

In the last year, the EU has set up more than 500 illegal buildings in the Gush Adumim area and helped move more than 3000 Palestinians out of Areas A and B and into Area C.

It is estimated that there are now more than 35,000 illegal Palestinian structures in Area C, 12,500 of which are currently under “review” by the Civil Administration.

TODAY’S BLOG:

In yet another egregious surrender of Israeli sovereignty, the government of PM Benjamin Netanyahu has completely caved in to international pressure at the most precious spot of Israeli sovereignty on the planet–the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

Lest we forget, the Temple Mount has been the focal point of Palestinian terrorism over the last half year. Endless vicious incitement has streamed out of the mouths of the PLO, Hamas, and the Jordanian Islamic Wakf alleging that Israel was somehow trying to take over the Al-Aksa Mosque.

Urged on by the Palestinians, international bodies such as the United Nations and European Union have decried the so-called “Judaization” of the Temple Mount and Jerusalem.

One of the leading forces behind the delegitimization of Jewish sovereignty on the Mount has been the Obama Administration, led by John Kerry. The U.S. Secretary of State is the de facto representative of the PLO and Jordan when it comes to Temple Mount issues.

As this delegitimization has intensified, large gangs of Palestinian thugs have roamed the Temple Mount area attacking Jews with “rocks”, spitting, and cursing. These gangs store their weapons and mount their assaults from inside the Al-Aksa Mosque.

It has reached a point that no Jew can walk across the Temple Mount without an armed escort.

And as this Temple Mount terrorism has grown worse, the Jordanian Islamic Wakf has continued to heap more restrictions on Jews–with the collusion of the Netanyahu government and the Israeli police.

No Jew can carry a Torah to the Mount.

No Jew can bow on the Mount.

No Jew can silently mouth a prayer on the Mount.

No Jew can utter any religious expression aloud on the Mount–not even the shema.

No Jew can even come to the Mount except when the Islamic Wakf allows him or her.

All of which brings us to the meeting that took place last month between Kerry, Netanyahu, King Abdullah of Jordan, and PLO Chairman Mahmoud Abbas. You may recall that all participants ended that meeting by lauding Abdullah for his plan to install cameras on Mount–a lauding that ignored that it was Abdullah who had had security cameras removed from the Mount several years ago.

Later this week, a Jordanian team is arriving in Jerusalem to set up the cameras.

And who is being excluded from the process of setting them up?

You guessed it.

Israel.

What is more, Israel has apparently surrendered even more sovereignty over the Mount by agreeing that cameras will not be placed in the very spot where they are most needed–the Al-Aksa Mosque, and the entire “Mosque complex”.

In case you are not aware of it, the Jordanians and the Palestinians claim that the Mosque complex includes much of the Jewish Quarter of the Old City.

To think that Israel is turning over sovereignty of the Temple Mount and environs to the very country (Jordan) and people (Jordanians and Palestinians) who ethnically cleansed the Old City of all Jews from 1948 to 1967 staggers the mind.

***SPECIAL NOTICE:

Your humble servant would like to thank all of israelstreet‘s faithful readers for their patience during the last two weeks. During this time, he was at sea visiting Central America, going through the Panama Canal, and spending some time in Colombia. During this time, I encountered nothing but support for Israel at every juncture–and will report on this in a future blog.
