UPDATES 8 am Israel time:

–>Palestinian terrorists continued their incessant attempts to kill Israelis yesterday. The two most egregious incidents were:

*Around noon, a soldier was attacked by a knife-wielding Palestinian in downtown Ramat Gan. Fortunately the soldier was not wounded, but unfortunately the terrorist escaped.

*At 7:30 in the evening, residents of the Jewish community of Elon Moreh spotted a suspicious person approaching the security fence from the south. They called the nearby IDF who arrived on the scene and captured a Palestinian terrorist armed with a rifle and a knife.

In between the above two events, Palestinians firebombed Israeli vehicles traveling through Aboud and Migdalot; rioted at Rachel’s Tomb, the Tapuach Junction, Sair, Shechem, Silwan, and Zeita: and struck Israeli vehicles with “rocks” at Husan, Sinjil, Alei Zahav and numerous other locations.

–>As reported yesterday on israelstreet, there is every reason to believe that Israelis were targeted in Istanbul.

PM Netanyahu’s dissembling notwithstanding (after all, he is on the verge of signing an absurd agreement with Turkey and doesn’t want anything to rock the boat), all evidence suggests that the suicide bomber was looking for Israelis. This morning a Turkish reporter has described how the bomber followed the Israeli group from the moment they left their hotel.

As Ya’akov Hagoel, deputy head of the World Zionist Organization (WZO), said yesterday:

“I have no doubt that this terrorist stuck to the (Israeli tourist) group, listened for Hebrew and only then detonated the explosive. From his perspective he wanted to harm Jews and Israelis.”

Hagoel’s statement correlates exactly with what witnesses on the ground saw--namely that the terrorist heard Hebrew, walked toward the group, and detonated.

–>You remember, dear reader, the horrific Duma case in which the Dawabsheh home was set afire on July 31 2015, supposedly by Jewish terrorists?

As a result of that attack three of the 4 Dawabsheh family members died.

Tens of young Jews living in the area were rounded up by Shin Bet, detained without charges, refused access to a lawyer, refused access to their families–and they were ruthlessly interrogated day and night for weeks on end. Finally, one man (21-year-old Amiram Ben-Uliel) confessed to the crime and awaits trial–though he has since recanted that confession saying that he was brutally tortured into giving it.

At the time of the fire, your humble servant noted that the Dawabshe family had long been involved in a violent feud with another clan in Duma, and in fact had had a number of their homes burned prior to the July attack.

Fast forward to four days ago on Wednesday night. Another fire at another Dawabshe home occurred.

This fire happened to be at the home of Ibrahim Dawabshe whose house was next door to the house that was burned out last July.

On Wednesday night, Ibrahim Dawabshe along with everyone else in the PLO immediately accused Jewish extremists of carrying out the attack. And immediately the Shin Bet stepped in again.

But this morning Shin Bet issued this amazing announcement: “The findings so far at the scene are not compatible with the characteristics of arson by Jews. Other details of the investigation remain under a gag order.”

All of which begs the questions: how is Jewish arson different from Palestinian arson, and who is kidding whom about who caused the original fire back in July?

–>The Netanyahu government cowers and crumbles in the face of U.S. pressure.

Two events of the last 24 hours have turned your humble servant’s stomach.

In the first, PM Netanyahu has apparently withdrawn his support for the “Transparency Law” proposed by Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked. That Law–which had already passed in first of three readings in the Knesset–would have forced NGOs in Israel receiving more than 50% of their money from foreign sources.

Bowing to international (mainly U.S. pressure), Netanyahu proposed his own Transparency Law yesterday–a vastly watered down version of Shaked’s proposal. Netanyahu’s law would only apply to time periods related to elections in Israel. How this could possibly work is anyone’s guess.

In the second, the Ministerial Committee for Legislation rejected indefinitely a bill designed to partially repay with “living expenses” Israel’s moral debt to Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard.  Despite widespread support, the bill was rejected because it “would cause tension with the United States.”

Totally pathetic.

–>Congratulations to the Israeli under 21-years-old jujitsu team competing in the world championships in Spain this past week.

On the women’s team, Ronnie Nasmian and Meshi Rosenfeld picked up a gold and silver medal, respectively.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Joe Biden preaching at AIPAC yesterday (picture JLTV).

Your humble servant is sick and tired of the way that speakers (primarily from the U.S. Democratic Party) use the annual American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC)  convention as a way to establish their credentials as “honest brokers” in the nonexistent so-called “Middle East Peace process.”

Their hollow speeches all sound the same, beginning with the same tired meaningless cliches designed to show support for Israel and elicit applause from the audience.

Take U.S. Vice President Joe Biden’s speech yesterday.

How many times have we heard:

“We’re all united by our unyielding commitment to the survival and success of the Jewish state of Israel.”

“We’ll make sure Israel has the best equipment available.”

“The United States will always have Israel’s back.”

What Biden really meant was:

“We’re all united by our unyielding commitment to the survival and success of the Jewish state of Israel”–as long as the people of Israel kowtow to the Obama Administration; otherwise we will spend money to subvert the democratic process during Israeli elections.

“We’ll make sure Israel has the best equipment available”–except when we reject Israeli requests for advanced weaponry like President Obama did when Israel ran out during the 2014 war with Palestinian Gaza.

“The United States will always have Israel’s back”–except when we disagree about what’s best for Israel such as in the Democratic Party Nuclear Weapons Appeasement Deal with Iran; after all, President Obama always knows best.

And on and on.

Every such Democratic speech always ends up with overt criticism of Israel (don’t be surprised if Republican front-runner Donald Trump’s speech at AIPAC does the same in a few days).

In the case of Biden yesterday, he ended up by blaming both Palestinians and Israelis for the lack of peace:

“In my view . . . there is no political will among Israelis or Palestinians to move forward with negotiations.”

And then proceeded to stab Israel in the same back he always purports “to have”:

“Israel’s steady and systematic process of expanding settlements, legalizing outposts, seizing land, is eroding in my view the prospect of a two-state solution.”

Thank you Vice President Biden for exactly mouthing the fraudulent PLO line and feeding talking points to Israel’s enemies everywhere.
