SPECIAL NOTICE:

The Fast of Esther began at dawn this morning in Israel and continues until sundown. The Fast remembers the three-day Fast in the story of Purim. The wonderfully joyous holiday of Purim begins when the Fast ends at sundown tonight and continues until Thursday at sundown.

Purim is a hugely popular holiday in Israel as children and adults wear costumes to remember the heroic exploits of Queen Esther and her uncle (actually cousin) Mordechai in saving the Jewish population of Shushan from the evil Haman. All this week, children having been wearing their costumes to school.

Because of the proclivity of Palestinian terrorists to strike during holiday periods, the Israel government has ordered the closure of Judea and Samaria. No Palestinians will be permitted out of the area between 1 am tonight and 11:59 pm Friday night.

UPDATES 8 am Israel time:

–>Palestinian terror yesterday. . .

*Tuesday saw more than 25 Palestinian “rock” attacks against Israeli men, women, and children–most of them directed at Israeli motorists.

What do you imagine when you think of a “rock” attack on a car? A shattered windshield, a broken out passenger window, or a few dents in the body of the car? All of the above are possible, but the main objective of Palestinian terrorists is to cause Israeli drivers to lose control of their cars and crash.

Yesterday at 12:25 pm, a young Israeli mother was driving with her children in the car near Al-Hader in Gush Etzion when she was assaulted by “rock” throwing terrorists. In the picture below, you see what happened when a “rock” smashed her windshield and caused her to lose control of the car:

The woman was taken to a hospital with "moderate" wounds; fortunately, her children in the back seat were not physically wounded (photo: Israel Police).

Other “rock” attacks occurred yesterday in such places as Turmusayya, Rahelim, Yitzhar, Yatma, Tekoa, Issawiya, Beit Furik, the Mt. of Olives, Benjamin Square (where a bus was badly hit).

*Last night, a major Palestinian terror attack was averted near Nebi Elias when an alert Border Guard stopped a suspicious vehicle and found a terrorist with a machine gun and grenades.

*Police still seem to be dithering over whether to call the stabbings that occurred in the Beersheva Mall and on the street in Netanya yesterday as “criminal” or “nationalistic” (the euphemistic replacement word for “terrorist”).

We have often observed on this blog that the Israeli police perform linguistic somersaults to avoid calling any act a terrorist one. However, the stabbings yesterday bear all the marks of a terrorism. The Israelis were stabbed in the neck and upper torso by Arabs.  What would you call these?

–>Two pieces of wonderful news!

You remember, dear reader, the terror attack at Ma’ale Adumim several weeks ago when security guard Tzvika Cohen was axed repeatedly in the head by a Palestinian terrorist.

Near death, Cohen was rushed into the neurosurgery unit at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital where he underwent hours of extremely complex brain surgery. The fantastic news is that he is now fully conscious and has been upgraded to “moderate” condition. Still on a respirator, Cohen will have to undergo a long rehabilitation period.

Similarly, the Border Policeman who was shot in the head of Saladin Street across from the Old City of Jerusalem two weeks ago, opened his eyes yesterday and began to communicate with doctors and family.

His will also be a long rehabilitation, but thankfully he has survived.

–>Are the Israeli police finally doing something?

Considering that some 44% of the Palestinian terror attacks that take place within the Green Line are carried out by Palestinians in the country illegally, it actually appears that the Israeli police are at long last making a concerted effort to deal with the problem.

Israelstreet has been very critical of the apparently token efforts of the police, but yesterday we found out that more than 1,200 illegal Palestinians have been rounded up in the last two weeks. In addition, 150 people who were illegally transporting the Palestinians into Israel have been arrested, and businesses employing numerous illegal Palestinians have been closed.

Your humble servant applauds these efforts but wonders if the police have the determination necessary to rid the country of all 100,000 illegal Palestinians in the country.

–>A mini Israeli-Palestinian trade war. . .

In response to an Israeli government order temporarily prohibiting the sale of Palestinian products in the country because of inadequate “safety controls” on the production of milk, the PLO yesterday banned Tnuva, Strauss, and Yafora products from entering areas A and B of Judea and Samaria.

It may seem odd to you considering the Palestinian support of BDS, but hundreds of millions of shekels of Israeli products are sold in Palestinian-controlled areas every year.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Your humble servant doubts that you remember this picture taken in Brussels’ Zaventem Airport back in the summer of 2014 during the Gaza War–in almost exactly the same location as one of the terror attacks that occurred yesterday:

Was this a precursor to what happened yesterday?

Was this a precursor to what happened yesterday?

Who was dressed in black “Free Palestine” t-shirts adorned with the Palestinian flag while dumping “symbolic blood” on the airport floor?

None other than members of BDS.

Of course it is far-fetched, but one cannot help but wonder if the terrorists yesterday got some inkling of an idea from the BDSers in 2014 about a good place in the Belgium airport to stage an attack.

Guess what was happening in Geneva yesterday as the Brussels attacks were being reported?

Brussels may have been only 331 miles away, but as far as the UNHRC was concerned, it was on a different planet (source: googlemaps).

Brussels may have been only 331 miles away, but as far as the UNHRC was concerned, it was on a different planet (source: googlemaps).

Even as the reports of the terror attacks in Brussels began pouring in (and were mentioned in the meeting), the UN Human Rights Council spent 5 hours ranting against Israel and issuing one harsh condemnation after another.

With complete indifference to what was happening just down the road and consumed with anti-Semitic obsession, dozens of countries and NGOs lined up to fraudulently excoriate Israel.

What does this say about the United Nations? What does it say about the abominable UNHRC?

Your humble servant doesn’t have the words.

Nor do I have the words for the pathetic “bursting into tears” show put on by E.U. Foreign “Minister” and Yasser Arafatophile Federica Mogherini in Jordan yesterday.

Right after this, Mogherini collapsed onto Jordanian FM Nasser Judeh's shoulder.

Right after this, Mogherini collapsed onto Jordanian FM Nasser Judeh’s shoulder.

Read this write-up from the euronews.com website:

Fighting back tears, [Mogherini] cut short a news conference saying: “It’s also a very sad day for Europe, as Europe and its capital are suffering the same pain that this region has known and knows every single day, be it in Syria, be it elsewhere.

“We are still waiting for more precise news on the dynamics of the attacks in Brussels, but it is quite clear that the roots of the pain we are suffering around our region are very much the same, and that we are united, in not only [the] suffering of our victims, but also reacting to this act and preventing radicalisation and violence together.

She then said: “I will stop here, you will understand this, today is a difficult day.”

Aside from the fact that one of the reasons that Mogherini was in Jordan was to flatulently lather King Abdullah with support for “all he does for Middle East peace–including the Palestinian-Israeli peace process”:

What has Mogherini ever done to condemn the daily Palestinian terrorism that strikes Israeli men, women, and children? Absolutely nothing.

What does Mogherini have to say about the fact that her office is actively radicalizing Palestinians by building illegal Palestinian settlements in Area C of Judea and Samaria, and attempting a population transfer of Palestinians out of Areas A and B into Area C–in contravention of the Geneva Accords? Absolutely nothing.

What did Mogherini have to say about the bomb in Istanbul that killed three Israelis the other day? Absolutely nothing.

Mogherini is all show.

Somewhere back in time, people believed that crocodiles cried while consuming their prey; hence the term “crocodile tears” came into use, meaning a false display of emotion.

Mogherini is indeed a crocodile in sheep’s clothing, and her tears are carefully orchestrated crocodile tears.
