Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours

Israelis were firebombed while driving on Road 446 near Shuqba. “Rock” attacks occurred beside the Maccabim checkpoint, Ma’ale Amos, and on the Husan Bypass Road. Security forces were assaulted by “rocks” and Molotovs in A-Tur, Nahlin, Adam, and Hevron.

Terrorists opened fired on an Israeli motorist near Deir Abu Mashal.

As reported yesterday, three Israelis were stabbed at the Lion’s Gate in Jerusalem.

All told there were more than 30 Palestinian terror attacks yesterday.

More Palestinian workers for Israel

On Sunday, the Netanyahu government is poised to accept a noxious proposal made by Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon, and Minister of Construction and Housing Yoav Galant.

That proposal will increase the number of Palestinian workers coming into Israel from Judea and Samaria to 22,000.

Specifically:

To the already existing 7,000 Palestinian workers in the fields of construction and manufacturing who have already received work permits, another 9,300 permits will be allocated–bringing to 16,300 the number of Palestinians working in Israel in these sectors.

To the already existing 2,200 Palestinian workers in the field of agriculture will be added another 3,500 workers–bringing to 5,700 the number of Palestinian agricultural workers.

All of these Palestinians are in addition to the some 75,000 Palestinians who daily work illegally in Israel.

According to Kahlon and Galant the proposal will “improve economic relations between Israelis and Palestinians and the security of Israelis.”

What utter balderdash.

Improve economic relations? The Palestinians could care less about improving any sort of relations with Israelis. Yes, bringing more workers into Israel will put more money in Palestinian pockets, but the thought that relationships will improve is absurd.

What is worse is that “gestures” like this only foster Palestinian dependence on Israel and cater to some bizarre paternalistic attitude that some Israelis seem to harbor concerning the infantile Palestinians. Why in the world do we want to create such dependence? Let the Palestinians go work in Jordan, in Egypt, in the Gulf States–but not in Israel.

And the part about increasing our security? Who is kidding whom? More potential terrorists will be coming into the country to kill more Israelis (as a number of Palestinians with work permits have done in the last year).

The Battle for Amona Reaches A Critical Moment

In yesterday’s blog, we posed the question of whether you would accept the government’s proposal to evacuate your community of Amona.

Today, the Amona residents have spoken–and they have overwhelmingly rejected that proposal.

They have issued a call for Israelis to join them in an act of passive resistance to the government evacuation order. As part of that resistance, the residents of the community are stockpiling tires and erecting barriers to impede the IDF and police that will shortly be sent to throw them off of their own land.

Of course, the brave residents of Amona stand no chance of stopping the evacuation forces which outnumber them some 20 to 1.

However, we who cannot be there to join them stand with them against the utter hypocrisy of a system which encouraged them to build the community, provided them with the tools and infrastructure to do so, and now wants to destroy it.
