Israel remembers Ron Arad

Yesterday would have been the 60th birthday of Ron Arad, who has been missing in action since October 16, 1986 when a bomb dropped on a PLO target from his F-4 Phanton over Lebanon exploded prematurely causing the plane to crash.

Arad was captured and was apparently still alive in 1995–the last time any sign of life was transmitted by his captors to Israelis. It is supposed that he died between 1995-1997 though no definitive conclusion has ever been reached (an Israeli investigation suggested that he died as far back as 1988).

The knowledge that Arad was tortured to death by his captors is seared into the consciousness of every Israeli.

Israelstreet sends its highest regards to Arad’s wife Tami and his daughter Yuval.

Orwellian Quote of the Day:

“This action is the latest alarming example of the Israeli government’s efforts to silence political dissent and criticism of its policies and to suppress the activities of human rights advocates. These efforts are rapidly eroding Israeli democracy.

Whatever the views of these activists, they should be allowed to travel freely within Israel and the Palestinian territory to see and judge for themselves the reality on the ground, and to learn from the work being done by their Israeli and Palestinian counterparts. Banning progressive activists from entering the country only undermines Israeli democracy — and empowers the global BDS movement that the Israeli government aims to combat.”

J Street Press Release: May 2, 2018

This press release refers to the fact that two American self-proclaimed “human rights activists” were detained for 14 hours at Ben Gurion Airport last week and then sent back to the United States.

Vincent Warren and Catherine Frank had planned to lead an anti-Israel guided tour of Judea and Samaria for 15 other so-called “human rights activists.” In sending the two back, Israeli authorities said that the two attempted to hide their connection to Jewish Voice for Peace--a viciously anti-Israel organization that supports the BDS boycott against Israel.

Isn’t it Orwellian that J Street claims that by our stopping those who seek to undermine our democracy from entering our country, we are eroding democracy?

Equally Orwellian is how J Street characterizes anti-Israel human rights activists as “progressives”, and says that banning these pro-BDS “progressives” empowers BDS.

Just when you think that J Street could not possibly be more disgusting and contemptible, it is.

Elsewhere in Gaza, Friday and Saturday saw about 5000 rioters on the Gaza Border. Hundreds of Palestinians broke through into the Palestinian side of the Kerem Shalom Crossing–but were unable to get into Israel.

**Meanwhile, in Judea, Samaria, and eastern Jerusalem:

–a female terrorist armed with a knife was captured at the Qalandiya checkpoint; afterward she declared “I want to be a shaheed!”

–in yet another bizarre case, a female terrorist who had received a long prison sentence for attempting to carry out a stabbing attack in Jerusalem, was inexplicably released, and within 24 hours attempted to carry out another stabbing attack in Hadera.

–Palestinian terrorists attacked with “rocks” and Molotovs on the Gush Etzion road near Hevron, at Al Fawwar, Halhul, Beit Anun, Kiryat Arba, and a myriad of other places.

–Palestinian “agricultural” terrorists burned tens of thousands of shekels of haystacks in the Jordan Valley, while other terrorists stole half a herd of sheep near Mt. Hevron. The latter group was captured when police saw sheep crowded into the cab of the truck that was hauling more sheep in a closed trailer behind it.

The Hideous John Kerry: Still Fighting For “His” Nobel Peace Prize

What could Kerry and Zarif be saying to each other? Perhaps--Kerry: We have to act quickly if we want to thwart Trump and save our Prize." Zarif: "Yes, yes, you're right. But you cannot make any more concessions now that you are no longer in the government."

What could Kerry and Zarif be saying to each other? Perhaps–Kerry: “We have to act quickly if we want to thwart Trump and save our Prize.” Zarif: “Yes, yes, you’re right. But you cannot make any more concessions now that you are no longer in the government. Can you give me some of your private fortune?”

Of course, all readers of israelstreet are well aware that for the past three years John Kerry has been actively seeking the Nobel Peace Prize–only to see it slip through his hands in 2015, 2016, and 2017.

Undoubtedly, he felt particularly jilted when the Nobel Committee awarded the 2017 Peace Prize to the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons.

But he shouldn’t have.

After all, do Kerry and  Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif really deserve the award for putting together the Iranian Nuclear Weapons Appeasement Agreement which enabled Iran to keep its nuclear weapons program and its ballistic missile program, and provided Iran with billions of dollars to pursue Iranian hegemony throughout the Middle East and terrorism elsewhere–and in the process exposed every Israeli to possible Iranian attack?

Nevertheless, what has the malevolently pathetic Kerry been doing for the last two weeks?

Meeting with Zarif to figure out any way he can to thwart President Trump’s announced desire to trash what Trump calls “the worst deal ever made.”

Keeping the Agreement intact is Kerry’s only chance for “his” Nobel.

Speaking of trash, it is long past time for John Kerry and the Appeasement Agreement to be consigned to the trash heap of history.
