The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

In Judea and Samaria:

Palestinian terrorists throwing “rocks” and Molotovs attacked Israelis traveling in cars and buses at Mt. Hevron, Har Bracha, the Farsa Junction, between the tunnel checkpoint and El Khader, the Zif Junction, between Adam and Hizma, the Postal Junction, on Road 443, Yitzhar, on the Gush Etzion Road near Hevron, on Route 465, and a myriad of other places.

Palestinian terrorists throwing “rocks” and Molotovs attacked Jewish worshipers at Samuel’s Tomb.

On the Gaza border:

More fires, more attempted infiltrations, more suppressed news by the government and IDF.

In the meantime, the Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and PLO terrorists seem to be having a hard time getting together on the proposed Egyptian ceasefire plan: Hamas and Islamic Jihad accept it, but the PLO doesn’t. The PLO has “offered” amendments which Hamas doesn’t accept, and guess what?

UN Special Envoy Nikolay Mladenov, who started the ball rolling, has just left for his annual month-long summer vacation.

Your humble guess he knows which way the wind is blowing.

Just when you think you’ve heard everything . . .

It turns out that the Iraqi national soccer team has been in Area A of Samaria and in Israel for the last week or so.

The Iraqi National Soccer team arriving in Ramallah last week.

The Iraqi National Soccer team arriving in Ramallah last week.

They beat the Palestinian team 3-1 last Friday night in A-Ram, a neighborhood of eastern Jerusalem. The game was marked by cheering crowds waving signs and pictures adoring Saddam Hussein.

Yes, Saddam Hussein…the same Saddam who attacked Tel Aviv with SCUDs and thus became a Palestinian hero forever.

If all that wasn’t enough, the team was escorted to the Temple Mount yesterday by PLO sports head and arch terrorist Jibril Rajoub who then further escorted them through the Muslim section of the Old City.

They stopped for photographs all along the way while proclaiming that Al Quds was and will always be, a Muslim city.

Can you believe all of this? What fool in the Israel Foreign Ministry signed on to this idiocy?

The vicious attack on Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked . . .

. . . continues unabated, spearheaded by the abominable former PM Ehud Barak who desperately wants to be PM again.

Shaked is being criticized for stating the obvious: if the High Court of Justice rules the Nation-State Law invalid, a “war” will break out between the Court and the Knesset.

You will remember that the Nation-State Law is a “Basic Law” which is supposed to render it immune from High Court disqualification. However, there is every reason to believe that the Court will weigh in anyway, and if it does, it will effectively neuter the Knesset.

After all, why should the Knesset pass any law if the High Court is going to effectively rule the country?

Yesterday, Barak put this preposterous post on Facebook: “. . . the goals [of the Nation-State Law] are to undermine the ability of the Supreme Court to act in the spirit of the Declaration of Independence and to prepare the ground for subsequent legislation of racial laws, apartheid and transfer.”

What nauseating nonsense.

The principles of the Nation-State Law have nothing to do with racial laws, apartheid, and transfer. They merely state that Israel is a Jewish country that has a national flag, national anthem, and national language. Jews around the world have the right to come and live in Israel. If Barak doesn’t like that, he can move elsewhere.

To top all of this off, Shaked published a picture of she and her husband together two days ago. Her husband, a fighter pilot, has just retired from active duty–and so was able to be photographed.

It is unbelievable how leftists in Israel and elsewhere are now comparing our government leaders to Nazis.

Immediately, Israeli leftists pounced on Shaked comparing her to Nazi Propaganda Goebbels because such an “evil person” posed with her family.

Can you believe how vicious Israeli politics have become?

Look who’s being discriminated against . . .

The Hebrew

A typical scene at Hebrew University these days. Palestinian students there protesting against Israel. Please note that the link to this video is dead–so you cannot click on the arrow.

The Hebrew University of Jerusalem made a series of announcements yesterday which in any other country would immediately be branded as discriminatory and perhaps even racist.

In the first announcement, the university announced that Israeli-Arabs and Palestinians will not be required to take the psychometric entrance exams required of all students.

To repeat this, Jewish students will continue to be required to take an entrance exam to attend the university, but Israeli-Arabs and Palestinians can enter with no exam.

Actually, this announcement comes as no surprise because as of March of last year, the Hebrew University began to accept the PLO’s matriculation exam known as the taujihi. Seven months later in October, Ben Gurion University in Beersheva did away with all entrance exams–for Arabs.

In the second, more lengthy announcement, the Hebrew University announced it was opening a graduate program in the life sciences and was specifically seeking Arab students. To that end, it said that:

*Israeli-Arabs would not be required to pay tuition

*Israeli-Arabs would receive a 2000-4000 shekel a month payment for living expenses

None of these perks applies to Israeli Jews.

At a time when the government is being excoriated in the press and on the left for alleged discrimination against Israeli-Arabs, we find that the opposite is true.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Madness

The Iranian economy appears to be in freefall this morning with food shortages provoking widespread demonstrations against government policies–particularly the policy of funding Iranian militaristic adventures around the world to the tune of an estimated billion dollars.

One of the main chants in Tehran and elsewhere yesterday called on the government to stop supporting Hezbollah–and indeed Hezbollah was complaining yesterday that its budget was being severely cut by the Iranians.

But Iranians should not worry.

After all, there is a savior on the horizon in the form of Euran.

Yesterday, “High EU Representative” Federica Mogherini along with the Foreign Ministers of France, Germany, and the United Kingdom issued a statement which read in part:

“We deeply regret the re-imposition of sanctions by the U.S. . . . The JCPOA [read “Nuclear Weapons Appeasement Agreement”] . . . is a key element of the global nuclear non-proliferation architecture, crucial for the security of Europe, the region, and the entire world . . .

We are determined to protect European economic operators engaged in legitimate business with Iran, in accordance with EU law and UN Security Council resolution 2231. This is why the European Union’s updated Blocking Statute enters into force on 7 August to protect EU companies doing legitimate business with Iran from the impact of US extra-territorial sanctions.

The remaining parties to the JCPOA have committed to work on . . . the preservation and maintenance of effective financial channels with Iran, and the continuation of Iran’s export of oil and gas . . . “

Madness.

Just plain madness.

Iran perpetrates terrorist acts throughout Europe as it does elsewhere in the world and threatens to wipe Israel off the map everyday, and the Euranians will do everything within their power to continue to fund the terrorist ayatollahs in Tehran.

Madness.
