Picture of the Day:

What do you think this is a picture of?

What do you think this is a photo of?

It is a photo taken yesterday of the blown-up headquarters of the Gaza police. Apparently the 42-year-old commander of the “engineering unit” (aka the “explosives division”) of the Al-Qassam Brigades, Abdul Rahim Abbas,  was there handling explosives when BOOM!

Fortunately, Abbas was killed and an unknown number of his fellow terrorists were injured. All of this information comes from the Ministry of the Interior and National Security in Gaza.

The News On the Israeli Street

Good news from the Gaza border . . .

You may recall, dear reader, that back on July 25 an officer in the Givati Brigade was severely wounded by a Hamas sniper–perhaps the same sniper that killed Staff Sgt. Aviv Levi days before.

Yesterday, a month and a half after being shot, the officer walked out of Soroka Hospital in Beersheva and returned to his home in Dimona.

Another fire set by Palestinian terrorists . . .

This time in Karmei Esh Kodesh in Binyamin. For the second time in two months, security cameras recorded terrorists from the Palestinian settlements of Kosra and Jalud setting fire to agricultural fields and grape orchards.

Another travesty of justice . . .

It was determined by military authorities that the home of the terrorist who murdered Adiel Kolman in Jerusalem will not be demolished. You may recall that Kolman, a young father of four, was stabbed to the death in the Old City by a terrorist from Shechem several months ago.

Normally, the home of the terrorist would be destroyed, but the family convinced military authorities that the terrorist (married and the father of two) suffered from “mental problems.”

The decision not to destroy the house has evoked a storm of criticism reflected on Israeli social media websites. Some of the comments:

“The only person suffering from mental illness is the person who decided not to destroy the terrorist’s home.”

“Left wing mental disease is worse than a malignancy.”

“The defense establishment has serious mental problems.”

“Hatred of Jews is a known psychological problem.”

“The leftists take over and enter the army and defense establishment.”

“Shame. Now the terrorists will activate the “mentally ill” to commit terror.”

More good news from Iran . . .

The Iranian rial is posting one new negative record each day.

Yesterday, the rial plunged even more against the dollar; on the black market, the rate is now $1 = 146,000 rials.

Absurdly, the Duma case resumes . . .

Yes, believe it or not, the farcical Duma case is still going on–and in fact has yet to even reach the evidentiary stage.

The Duma case refers to the incident in which someone threw a Molotov into the window of a home of residents in Duma, and subsequently three people in the home (mother, father, child) died. In the wake of these deaths, Shin Bet and the police rounded up nearly 30 young Jewish men, held them without charges, denied them access to lawyers and family, and ruthlessly tortured them for a month.

Eventually two “confessed”: one minor, and one adult.

You may recall that back in July, the confessions of the two defendants were thrown out because the defense proved that they had been obtained by torture.

Then all charges against the minor supposedly involved were dropped. However, now the prosecution is proceeding with the trial of the adult on the basis that it thinks it has enough evidence to convict him anyway.

All of this despite the fact that there is a mountain of evidence that what happened in Duma (and is still happening) was the result of clan warfare.

It is another case of Israeli jurisprudence run amok.

TODAY’S BLOG:

The High Court of Injustice Makes A Surprisingly Just Ruling

Well, it was actually not so surprising, since it had already ruled the same way 4 times on the same case over the last decade.

That case involves the razing of the illegal Palestinian settlement of so-called Khan Al-Ahmar–a settlement we have written about on numerous occasions.

Khan Al Ahmar: a hodgepodge of buildings put up by the European Union to create a settlement for Bedouins.

Khan Al Ahmar: a hodgepodge of buildings put up by the European Union to create a settlement for Bedouins.

To recapitulate, Khan Al-Ahmar is an illegal Palestinian-Bedouin settlement located in the E1 section beside Ma’ale Adumim on the outskirts of Jerusalem just off Highway 1. In fact, the settlement is a squatter’s camp on land belonging to Kfar Adumim.

Generally speaking, the E1 section is regarded as the tract of land that separates Judea and Samaria. From the Palestinian perspective, this small piece of land blocks the continuity of the southern and northern “West Bank.”

It is precisely for this reason that the European Union and other international lawbreakers have illegally encouraged Palestinians to move to Khan Al-Ahmar by constructing buildings and other infrastructure on the site.

As stated, prior to yesterday, the case had come before the court four times, and each time the justices had ruled that the settlement must be evacuated and demolished.

Yesterday, in their pronouncement, the justices declared: “The petitions before us are the fifth round of the saga. In the previous petitions, we discussed the human complexity involved in the large-scale evacuation of the Khan al-Ahmar compound, and at the same time that there is no choice but to carry out the demolition orders.”

Of course this is not the end of the story. Already today, the PLO has announced its attention to file yet another lawsuit to stop the government from acting–a lawsuit that will no doubt be funded by the E.U.

But, for the moment, let’s “rejoice” that the High Court of Injustice has made a “just” ruling for a change.
