The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

On the Gaza border:

There were launches of more than 50 incendiary balloons into southern Israel last night by Palestinian terrorists in Gaza. A number of fires were started when they exploded upon hitting the ground. The largest fire was in Ofakim.

In Judea, Samaria, and Jerusalem:

Palestinian terrorists stabbed a 43-year-old man in the Gilo neighborhood of Jerusalem this morning. He is currently in critical condition with multiple wounds to his upper torso.  Four terrorists have been captured and arrested. As always in Jerusalem, the police are loathe to call the attack a terror attack despite the obvious evidence.

Palestinian terrorists using Molotovs and “rocks” assaulted Israelis on Road 60, at Tekoa, Nabi Saleh, Al Khader, north of Ofra, between Anatot and Hizma (the bus driver was wounded and numerous passengers were treated for trauma), Urif, the Tann Junction, Neve Tzuf, on the Jerusalem-Gush Etzion Road, the Tunnels Checkpoint, Ma’ale Amos, Al Aruv, and Hizma among other places.

Palestinian terrorists destroyed a grape and cherry orchard belonging to Kibbutz Kfar Etzion. More than 200 vines and trees were cut down and uprooted.

“Leftist” terrorism . . .

As we have often reported on israelstreet, leftist so-called “human rights” activists are often among the worst terrorists when it comes to attacking Jewish community members in Judea, Samaria, and elsewhere.

Yesterday, a resident of Mevo’ot Yericho filed a police complaint against 15 leftists from the Ta’ayush organization and other “human rights” groups led by Arik Ascherman, a founding member of “Rabbis for Human Rights.”

According to the complaint, the leftists assaulted the Israeli when he was out for his morning run. He reported that he was beaten, grabbed, and held to the ground–all under the pretense that his running bothered Bedouin sheep in the area.

The entire incident was filmed, and police are currently reviewing the complaint.

Speaking of terrorists . . .

The IDF released an estimate yesterday.

It now believes that more than 3000 Hezbollah fighters have been killed in Syria since 2011.

Of course, Hezbollah denies that so many of its members have died, but thousands of Hezbollah funerals have been taking place in southern Lebanon for years.

Bravo to Israeli runner Marhu Teferi!

Yesterday Teferi broke the Israeli record for the marathon by an astounding 2 minutes and 27 seconds. Teferi’s time in the Seville marathon was 2:10:10.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Open Season On Our IDF Soldiers

Sometimes, you just want to scream the world.

Think about all of our brave IDF soldiers who are out on the front lines everyday. Out on the front lines and hamstrung by “politically correct” restrictions that leave them vulnerable to attack. Nowhere is this more true than on the Gaza Border and in Judea and Samaria.

These soldiers are out there defending us.

And yet, leftist Israelis fight to condemn them. In the past two days we have seen:

*Hebrew University senior professor Nadera Shalhoub-Kevorkian carry her “show” to Columbia University in New York.

Nadera Shaloub-Kevokian

Nadera Shaloub-Kevokian

This abominable person had just finished a tour of Europe where she proclaimed that IDF soldiers “experiment with their weapons on Palestinian children.”

Could this obvious allusion to Nazi soldiers in the Holocaust be any more vile?

*Israeli TV announcer/”reporter” Osrat Kotler proclaiming on her “news” program: “Israeli children are sent to the army, to the territories, and they come back as human animals.”

Oshrat Kotler

Oshrat Kotler

Human animals.

To say that the Israeli public is outraged over Kotler’s remark is an understatement. More than 2000 complaints have already been filed with the media oversight board, and lawsuits have been brought against her for defamation of our soldiers.

It should be noted that this is not the first time that Kotler has attacked IDF soldiers on her “news program.”

Your humble servant’s opinion is simple: Nadera Shalhoub-Kevorkian should be immediately fired from her position at Hebrew University. Why we Israeli taxpayers should pay the salary of such an Israel hater defies understanding. As for Oshrat Kotler, she too should be fired immediately. There should be no place on Israeli television for a person who so viciously attacks our soldiers.
