TODAY’S BLOG:

Will Israel’s Lack Of Response Cost Netanyahu The Election?

It is beginning to look like the Netanyahu government’s lack of attack against Hamas during this latest round of missile fire may adversely affect the performance of Netanyahu’s Likud Party in the April 9th election.

As well it should.

Prior to the outbreak, momentum seemed to be on Likud’s side as it had surged into the lead into most polls against its chief adversary, the Blue and White Party of Benny Gantz and Yair Lapid.

In the last 48 hours, that momentum seems to have been stalled if not reversed with a number of polls now showing Blue and White back in front again. Fortunately, the same polls show the block of parties on the “Right” holding at about 65 Knesset seats should the election be held tomorrow.

In short, the Israeli public no longer seems to be buying the nonsense that Netanyahu and the IDF General Command are selling about “how hard Hamas has been hit.” No matter how it is spun, the fact that leveling 30 buildings and partially hitting another hundred or so did not produce one single Palestinian terrorist casualty speaks volumes.

Years of fake IDF reports about missile strikes and what is happening on the Gaza border, absurd prosecutions of our own soldiers for defending themselves, endless empty threats by Israeli politicians about what Israel is going to do if “just one more missile is fired”–all of this has taken a cumulative toll. Everyone knows that Israeli attacks on Hamas are attacks of empty buildings and sand dunes that are unbelievable coordinated with Hamas.

This morning, while Bibi is ludicrously crowing about how he led the assault on Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh is taking a victory lap–able to declare yet again, that Israel is unwilling and incapable of hurting Hamas.

It is a scene we have seen repeated ad nauseum in recent years.

We’ll see how this plays out on April 9th.
