The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in Judea and Samaria:

Throughout this past weekend of terror raining from Gaza, the terror in Judea and Samaria did not abate.

Ten of the places where terrorists attacked with “rocks” and Molotovs in the last 24 hours were Shilo, Route 5 beside the Zawiya Bridge, the Tunnels Road, Karmei Tzur, Al-Aruv, on the Gush Etzion-Hevron Road, Migdal Oz, Al-Fawwar, Hevron, and Eli.

The above information was provided by citizens on the ground to Rescue without Borders, Rescue Judea and Samaria, hakolhayehudi, and rotter.

Fallout from the weekend mini-war . . .

750+ missiles and mortars hit southern Israel in the space of about 36 hours. Out of this 750+, the Iron Dome intercepted some 240.

In one 20 minute period alone, 117 missiles were fired at Ashdod.

According to the IDF, only 1 missile out of the 117 got through–but that missile killed an Israeli man in his car. In reality, more than 1 got through; explosions were heard all around Ashdod. As we have been reporting for years here on israelstreet, the fact is that Hamas and Islamic Jihad have realized since the 2014 war that all they have to do to overcome the Iron Dome is shoot barrages of missiles.

All of which begs the question of just how effective is the Iron Dome.

As Nahal Oz resident Raymond Reijnen–whose house was bombed on Saturday–commented today: “Everybody thinks [the Iron Dome] great, but every mortar they fired at the kibbutz landed and didn’t get intercepted. The Iron Dome is a bandage to keep the people feeling safe and protected. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great system, but its capabilities are highly overestimated.”*

*As reported in Arutz Sheva today.

Remember what we predicted two days ago? . . .

Your humble servant said that part of “ceasefire” agreement was that Qatar’s 15 million dollars a month would be resumed and increased.

We had no idea how much the increase would be until today when it was announced that Qatar will pay $480 million dollars to the Palestinians immediately–in addition to the $15 million dollars.

Who says that terrorism doesn’t pay?

Israel’s High Court of Injustice throws Israel under the bus again . . .

In its latest slap in the face to Israel, the High Court ruled two days ago that 100 Palestinians who live in Judea and Samaria must be allowed into the country to participate in a joint ceremony arranged by the ultra leftist Bereaved Families Forum and Combatants for Peace. Those 100 Palestinians are members of families whose sons and daughters carried out terror attacks against Israelis and were (fortunately) killed in the process.

The ceremony took place last night amidst a loud protest.

Can you understand the outrage of the protesters? Isn’t it incredible that on Yom Hazikaron (or on any day) a ceremony is held that compares our dead soldiers and terror victims with the very terrorists who murdered them?

TODAY’S BLOG:

War Clouds Gather Over the Persian Gulf

What do you think you are looking at?

What do you think you are looking at?

What you are looking at is a U.S. Air Force B-52 Stratofortress which passed directly over Israel today en route to the Al-Udeid Air Force Base in Qatar where it will join three other B-52s.

The same plane, farther east.

The same plane, farther east.

The announced mission of the B-52s is to support the U.S. aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln in countering Iranian threats. As all of you dear readers undoubtedly know by now, Israeli intelligence sources informed the U.S. in the past few weeks that Iran is moving short-range ballistic missiles on vessels into position to attack U.S. and other forces in the area.

This comes amidst increased U.S. sanctions against Iran, and surprising Iranian denunciation of European attempts to keep Iran in the Nuclear Weapons Appeasement Deal (the Iranians say that the Europeans are all talk and no action). Just this morning, Iran announced that it can return to full uranium enrichment to 20% in 4 days.

Where all of this leading your humble servant knows not–but on this 71st birthday of modern Israel, war clouds are gathering over the Persian Gulf.
