The Neville Chamberlain Quote of the Day

“In light of the targeting of an unmanned U.S. drone by Iran, it is essential that we remain fully engaged with our allies, recognize that we are not dealing with a responsible adversary and do everything in our power to de-escalate.”

Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives

Doesn’t this remind you of something like Chamberlain would have said about Hitler?

Of course we are not dealing with a responsible adversary. But do you know what irresponsible adversaries do? If you appease them by giving them a finger, they will take your whole hand.

If you let Iran get away with blowing up cargo ships in the Persian Gulf, then they will shoot down a U.S. drone, and next they will . . .

The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in Judea and Samaria in the last 24 hours . . .

Israeli civilians and soldiers were attacked all day and night. For example, Palestinian terrorists used “rocks” and Molotovs to assault Israeli motorists at such places as on Road 446 between Deir Qadis and Hashmonaim, at Alfe Menashe, and beside Deir Nizam.

These reports and others were made by citizens on the ground to hakolhayehudi, rotter, and Rescue Without Borders.

Israeli soldiers were attacked at Al Aruv: Palestinian terrorists threw Molotovs at an IDF pillbox which went up in flames:

Fortunately, all of the soldiers inside made it out alive. Note the front of the firetruck to the right of the photo.

Unfortunately, all of the terrorists escaped.

Speaking of terrorists . . .

Back on December 18, 2010, British citizen Kay Wilson was attacked by a Palestinian terrorist while she was walking with a friend in the area of Beit Shemesh. The friend she walking with was brutally murdered.

“Attacked” is a mild term for what happened to her. She was stabbed and slashed 13 times with a machete, and beaten so badly that more than 30 bones in her body were broken. More specifically, she suffered broken ribs, punctured lungs, a punctured diaphragm, dislocated shoulder, broken shoulder blade, and a broken sternum. Miraculously, bleeding heavily and with her hands tied behind her back, Wilson managed to crawl 1200 meters to get help.

She now spends her time fighting against British government payments to the PLO.

Kay Wilson: one of the bravest people you will ever see.

Kay Wilson: one of the bravest people you will ever see.

According to Wilson, the terrorist who “attacked” her and who now is incarcerated in Israeli prison has received more than $90,000 dollars in “salary from the PLO. As Wilson points out, the terrorist’s salary will rise in the coming years.

What Wilson wonders is how the British government in good conscience can continue to send money to the PLO knowing that much of that money goes to pay terrorists’ “salaries.”

The answer is simple: when it comes to Palestinian terror, the British government has no conscience.

Indeed, the international community that funds the PLO should hang its head in shame.

Kolakevod to Kay Wilson for continuing the fight!

A follow-up to my “conversion” blog a week ago . . .

In that blog, your humble servant suggested that something must be done to give greater access to conversion to the some 400,000 people in the country by way of aliya but who are not halachically Jewish.

Yesterday, Naftali Bennett made a proposal to accomplish this a central plank of his election campaign. What Bennett proposes is eliminating the ultra-orthodox Chief Rabbinate’s monopoly on conversions, and transferring conversion power to local city rabbis.

Obviously the ultra-orthodox will fight tooth and nail to hang on to their monopoly, but as Bennett said in making his announcement: “It’s a time bomb that can be solved, but the ultra-Orthodox rabbinate is preventing a solution. It’s time to show courage by looking into reality and bringing a sane solution.”

It again should be identified which side effects of viagra obesity in isolation does not always result in blood pressure falling. You must satiate her hunger brand cialis no prescription by orgasm in lovemaking sessions. In fact, according to ClickZ, 40% buy levitra Find Out More of email marketing messages delivered to inboxes are “broken.” This was actually something that came up during Eliteweb’s beta-testing phases, as we had a client in the Canadian Government whose recipients were mostly using highly secure email programs. It also has some side tadalafil 5mg no prescription effects like most of the people? Or you are among the benefitted lot.

The intense Jewish tie to Samaria . . .

Does the name Yehoshua Bin Nun ring a bell?

Perhaps if you read this verse from the Torah:

“And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him; and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the LORD commanded Moses.” Deuteronomy 34:9

Yes, Yehoshua is “the” Joshua forever revered as one of Israel’s greatest commanders. The same Joshua that led the conquest of Jericho and of Canaan. As you probably don’t know, Joshua and Kaleb bin Yepune are both buried in the center of  Kif Al-Harat (aka Kifl Haris) which is in the heart of Samaria:

Joshua and Kaleb's tomb. Note how it has been heavily graffitied by Palestinians; note also the back of an IDF jeep in the lower left part of the photo. No Jew can go to the tomb without a military escort.

Last night, hundreds of Jews prayed at the tomb.

Inside the tomb compound.

Inside the tomb compound.

For Israelis, Samaria is the land of our forefathers and foremothers. It is history come alive. As the head of the Samaria Regional Council, Yossi Dagan, said last night: “We came here to strengthen ourselves from the image of Yehoshua Ben Nun, a leader who did not fear and said, ‘We will rise and inherit the land.’ He is the best person to learn from. “

TODAY’S BLOG

Hamas, The New Israel Fund, and J Street:

Working Hand in Hand To Thwart Annexation of Area C

One cannot help but notice how J Street,  The New Israel Fund, and Hamas have all issued similar messages in the last two weeks.

Compare for yourself:

From the J Street website:

“By essentially giving the Netanyahu government a green light to begin unilaterally annexing Palestinian territory in the West Bank the Trump administration is endorsing a flagrant violation of international law. They are discarding decades of bipartisan US policy, trampling on the rights of Palestinians and helping the Israeli right-wing to destroy Israel’s future as a democratic homeland for the Jewish people. Even limited unilateral annexations in the West Bank would be intended to help make the occupation permanent and to prevent the creation of a viable, independent Palestinian state alongside Israel.

—–

From the New Israel Fund:

“Today, eight leading progressive American pro-Israel organizations submitted a letter . . . affirming U.S. support for a two-state solution and opposing any United States proposal that fails to expressly endorse a two-state solution or which expressly or tacitly encourages unilateral annexation. The letter is signed by Ameinu, Americans for Peace Now, J Street, National Council of Jewish Women, the New Israel Fund, Partners for Progressive Israel, Reconstructing Judaism and T’ruah . . .

The joint letter makes clear that the two-state solution is the only way to secure Israel’s future as a democracy and to fulfill the aspirations of the Palestinian people. It stresses that “The Trump administration has made clear its openness to Israeli annexation and opposition to a two-state solution . . . the Trump Administration is encouraging the far-right Netanyahu government as it pursues a path of deepening occupation and permanent conflict.”

—–

From Ismail Haniyeh of Hamas today:

“The strategic goals of Hamas are: national unity, strengthening the Palestinian national enterprise, lifting the siege on the Gaza Strip, thwarting Israeli plans to annex parts of Judea and Samaria by means of “all forms of struggle,” the release of Palestinian prisoners, ending the “occupation”, and the establishment of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.”

—–

In a real sense, the three statements are virtually interchangeable. What Hamas wants is what J Street wants is what The New Israel Fund wants. That Ismail Haniyeh could just as easily be the head of J Street or The New Israel Fund speaks volumes about how far to the left these two supposedly “pro-Israel” organizations have gone.

And how divorced from everyday Israelis they have become.
